Highlands Intermediate welcomed several new clubs to campus this year: ASL (American Sign Language) Club, Portuguese Horseshoe Club, and Book Club! This year's Student Activities Fair 2011 was a tremendous success in introducing and signing up students to all the clubs and committees at Highlands Intermediate. Excitement and energy were abound and was evidenced in all the student's faces as they looked to sign up for Robotics, Jr. Leo's Club, Victory Club, and all the awesome committees: Spirit, Athletics, Assembly, Promotions, and Dance. With so many students getting involved this will no doubt be the best year ever!
The Highlands Intermediate Student Council is a 2023 National Gold Council of Excellence recognized for its exemplary record of leadership, service and activities that improve the school and community.

Welcome Back Assembly 2011
If the Welcome Back Assembly 2011 was any indication on how this year is going to go then Highlands Intermediate is going to have the best year ever! All 8 teams on campus converged onto the Gym into their traditional places: 7th graders on the Ewa bleachers, 8th graders on the Town bleachers. Maleko, from STAR 101.9 FM, was this year's celebrity emcee and he kept the crowd excited and engaged from start to tumultuous finish! The purpose of the WBA is to welcome in the new school year, the new teachers (w/ new teacher initiation!), new Student Government officers and advisors, the Principal's Message, but mainly the assembly is there to kick-off the year's Highlands Spirit Challenge! The Spirit Challenges this year were both diverse and challenging: Grade-level/Team/Teacher Cheering Competitions, Team Body English (students spelled their Team's name with their bodies), Giant Ring Toss, and Scooter Board Challenge! That was the best Welcome Back Assembly ever and we soooo look forward to the shcool year to come!
