Farewell Assembly 2010

We started the school year off proper way back in August at the Welcome Back Assembly.  Remember that?  It was an important school year as our school went through it's 50th year of existence.  The 50th Anniversary we celebrated just a few months ago reminded us that our time here at Highlands was temporary, only 2 short years, and that's why we should always make the best of what little time we have.

And here we stand now, at our Farewell Assembly ready to say goodbye to yet another school year, to teachers that are leaving us, and especially the 8th graders moving on to high school.  Today is also a day to celebrate all our talented students and faculty in song, dance and games.  We will miss you all and we hope that this day will be memorable to keep and hold a special place, forever in your minds and hearts.

Highlands Ho'olaule'a

In Hawaiian, Ho’olaule’a simply means “celebration.”  Thus, this year’s Highlands Ho’olaule’a was created to celebrate so many great things like the ending of a great school year and to wish our 8th graders a fond farewell & best of luck at PCHS next year!

The Highlands Ho’olaule’a is also a great way to celebrate all the talent our school has to offer.  Our Highlands Ohana came together in Hawaiian, Samoan and Tahitian songs and dance.  To end it all was an awesome concert by Beach 5 and their #1 hits “She Looks Good” and “The Way She Moves.”  See ya next year and a hui hou!

PCHS Pep Rally

Pearl City High School atheletes, coaches, cheerleaders and band members were on campus today for the annual PCHS Pep Rally. Highlands hosted the PCHS Athlete Honor Society, Athletic Director and several of the Fall sports coaches who discussed the athletic program available to all incoming 8th graders. They displayed the pride of Pearl City via an awesome slide show, discussion with various team captains and culminated with sign-ups at the very end. The PCHS Pep Band and Cheerleaders were there to enliven the atmosphere and keep the crowd entertained from beginning to end. Go Chargers!
