Highlands Hunger Games 3: The Rebel Games
The Hunger Games returned to Highlands for the third year in a row on November 25, 2015!!! But, this year we changed the Hunger Games to make it one of the absolute BEST events Highlands has ever had. This year, we combined the Star Wars and Hunger Games worlds to create one event to be known as “Highlands Hunger Games 3: The Rebel Games”!!! We kicked off the Games this year with awesome performances by Princeton, Shaylana, and the HIS Cheerleaders!!! Right after that, came the Parade of Tributes with the anxious Tributes hyping up the crowd before their competition. In this year’s Hunger Games, there were 5 rounds as well as a special teacher round!!! In these rounds, the Tributes needed to use their speed, strategy, and agility to be the last man standing after 5 minutes of intense competition. They could choose to use crossbows, grenades, or the newest edition... lightsabers!!! In addition to winning each round, Tributes could also earn Spirit Points by securing Parachutes sent in by sponsors throughout the Games!!! After an awesome event, only one team could prevail and that team was...TEAM HUI MANA’O!!! Better luck to all the other teams next year at Highlands Hunger Games 4!!! Cade, SG President

Hunger Games 3 Training Centers
This year's Tributes -- 5 boys and 5 girls from each District -- were invited to the HHG3 Training Center in the old Metal Shop to hone their skills on the 3 weapons of choice for this year's annual Hunger Games. Tributes got to practice on the deadly crossbows, red hand grenades, and the new for this year's theme -- lightsabers! Student Council members went over the rules with their Tributes and they all had 5 minutes of target practice and sparring. The 7th Grade HHG3 Training Center took place on Monday 11/23 and the 8th Grade HHG3 Training Center took place the following day. The training, guidance, and practice these Tributes received will no doubt allow them everlasting glory when they take to the Hunger Games 3 Arena at the Capitol the follow day... More importantly, "may the odds be ever in their favor!"

Ko Olina Thanksgiving Outreach 2016
On Saturday, November 21st, the Highlands Student Council went down the street to the Ko Olina Thanksgiving Outreach at Pearl City Community Church. This annual service project is important to us as we are able to help those less fortunate than us enjoy a proper Thanksgiving meal courtesy of Ko Olina Resorts. It was our job to bring some spirit to the event through cheers and energizers, help serve the meals, and talk story with everyone afterward. This heartwarming experience will no doubt stick with all of us through this special time of year. It was a very moving experience for everyone involved and we're so glad we could participate again this year. Isabella, 7th Grade Council - Palisades Elem.
