Highlands is rockin' again this year and to prove it we asked all the students to show their school spirit and pride by dressing up for Spirit Week. This annual tradition is one of the most fun activities of the whole school year and the whole campus was alive and abuzz. To enhance participation, teams were given spirit points based on the percentage of participation in the individual homerooms. We kept the ultra popular Sports Day and Beach Day from years past and updated the event with some newer ones: Hip Hop Day, Rockstar Day and Ordinary Heroes Day
Monday -- Sports Day Blue thirty-two, red sixty-four…hike! Hike! Hike! Come to school sporting your favorite team’s outfit and gear and you’ll be scoring points just like them…spirit points, that is!
Tuesday -- Hip Hop Day Yo, yo, yo! Hip hop ya don’t stop representin’ yo self in the flyest of the fly outfit you got. Bust out that bling and represent….shidizzle my nizzle?
Wednesday -- Rockstar Day “Hey now, you’re a rock star…get your game on, go play!” Do you shred ripping air guitar solos and imagine yourself one day rockin’ an entire arena of screaming fans? We all do, right? Then this is your day to shine and show everyone you rock harder than them all.
Thursday -- Ordinary Heroes Day We pay tribute to the fallen “heroes” of 9/11. Over 3,000 innocent Americans lost their lives seven years ago and you can honor their memories by becoming an “Ordinary Hero” for the day, one who saves lives and sacrifices for others.
Friday -- Beach Day “It’s Aloha Friday, no work ‘til Monday…da-doo da-doo, da-doo ta…” You know the drill: afta lunch on Friday, all you can tink of is pau hana and da beach. We go extend ‘em liddle bit and make ‘em last da whole day la dat. Just add da beach in da scenario and you get da pickcha -- auright!
