Now usually you would think that an "assembly" would be a bunch of people talking but that's not how it was for Highlands Intermediate's Welcome Back Assembly '09. We had Sam Da Man and Kaleo from 102.7 Da Bomb as our emcees! We also had DJ Packo to come and blast the music the entire assembly! We gave away the best prizes ever: Blue Hawaii and Flip the Bird T-shirts, some awesome skateboard decks, and a completely amazing Flip The Bird jacket. Out of all the events that transpired my favorite thing was definitely the games! We had the new teachers to play a game where they get toilet-papered. We had a very loud and very hyped-up cheer competition between the 7th graders and the 8th graders which the 7th graders won, which kinda sucked for the 8th graders. And how could I forget to mention the best game ever -- Skateboard Olympics!!!! There were 8 teams of 8 people that had to do swimming motions to "swim" across the gym 8 times a la Michael Phelps. After that, Steve the magician put on a great show making a student disappear! Overall, it was a great way to welcome all the students back to school in style -- thanks to all who participated!!!!
