The Highlands Hunger Games!

The Reaping makes everyone's breathing halt. Some wishing that they would get picked, some dying not to. Each District's Tributes - 1 boy, 1 girl from each Highlands grade level Team - were announced over the Morning Bulletin on THU 11/21. When the Reaping ended, everyone could breathe again -- but not the Tributes!  7th & 8th Grade Tributes honed their survival skills during the Training Centers the day before the first-ever Highlands Hunger Games.  WED 11/26 was the day of reckoning as each Districts eagerly piled in to the Gym after Lunch, hoping to get a great view of the Arena. President Ogata welcomed everybody and wished them all, "...may the odds be ever in your favor!"  Amazing, chicken-skin performances from singers and The Highlands Lady Colts Cheerleaders lead up to the Games. The highly anticipated Parade of Tributes whipped the crowd into a frenzy, introducing the Tributes from each District with much fanfare!  The first 16 put on their vests, readied their stances, and anxiously awaited the countdown tick zero.  At the start of the first round, everyone screamed with all their might for their two tributes to win, to survive, and to bring glory to their Districts.  Whoever was nervous, the feeling immediately vanished as the adrenaline kicked in!  Tributes got hit in the moment they moved out of their hiding spots. Others went in the Cornucopia to gather as many weapons as possible.  This goes on for four more rounds, until finally, the last Tribute was standing.  People cheered when their District  won.  And they cheered even louder as they found out that their teachers were going to play in the bonus round!  That brought the first-ever Highlands Hunger Games to a close and we are ever thankful for such epic and wonderful memories before heading to our Thanksgiving Break...
