On April 14, 2018, the island of Kauai was ravaged by a massive storm, causing floods, mudslides, destroyed houses, and a broke a community. Because of this event, the Highlands Student Council decided to host an activity for the students, during National Student Council Leadership Week 2018. They decided to bring back one of our biggest and most exciting activities from earlier in the year: Penny War! The activity was a massive success last time with students putting in pennies in their own team’s collection jar to give their team positive points. Conversely, they could sabotage other teams by putting in silver coins and paper dollars in the other team’s collection jar. Students were yelling, cheering, and laughing throughout the lunch time event! Overall, this fundraising activity was a massive success, and was an amazing way to help the people of Kauai restore their community! Brandie, Student Government Treasurer
