StuCo Mid-Year Leadership Retreat 2017

The past two quarters flew by full of awesome activities like the Welcome Back Games 2017: Wizarding World of Harry Potter!, Highlands Haunted House 5: “The Thing That Should Not Be!”, Highlands Hunger Games 4, Highlands Quidditch Cup, the Winter Dance 2017 “The Yule Ball”, and still a lot more activities to list! So, to celebrate all the planning and hard work, to recharge ourselves, and also to get fired up for the next wave of activities, we headed down to Kualoa Ranch all the way out in Ka’a’awa. There we found out the importance of teamwork, problem solving and communication. This mini-retreat helped everyone to strengthen the bond and trust shared between all the members in Student Council while taking in the Ranch’s amazing natural atmosphere and laughing with friends. The awesome facilitators helped to bring us all together, and to realize that “Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.” -Henry Ford. Now, after the Mid-Year Retreat our bonds are strengthened, and we’re so fired up, ready to take on the rest of the year together! Josiah, Spirit Committee

Mid-Year Leadership Retreat

Welcome Back Assembly, Student Activities Fair, HH3: Ghost Adventures!, Hunger Games 2, all those Xmas activities....this year has been an literal whirlwind of "activity!"  Especially for we student council members who uber-busy planning and managing it all with a smile ;)  So, today was a day for us -- to step out of the stress and into the relax!  The Highlands Student Council set aside a whole day to journey out to picturesque Kualoa Ranch for our annual Mid-Year Leadership Retreat to "Relax-Reset-Refocus."  We took on the Ka'a'awa Challenge Course with full enthusiasm and energy and conquered it through teamwork, communication, problem-solving and critical thinking skills!  We also learned that Kualoa Ranch is amazingly beautiful; we learned how to complete all of our challenges without stepping in cow manure; and we learned how to be "artsy" in everything we do (inside joke!:).  We are so ready to tackle all the challenges that lie ahead in this upcoming semester and beyond!  Destiny -- 8th VP
