Boo! The spooky season of Halloween had finally crept up on us! For the students of Highlands Intermediate, this meant weeks full of competitive activities, dramatic costumes, and the infamous Highlands Haunted House! And as always, we thank Student Council and their lovely advisor Mr. White for the planning and facilitation of all of these amazing activities. Throughout the Fall season, students were able to participate in events like the costume contest, candy guess contest, mummy wrap and races, spooky story contests, and more! Then, when tensions reached their high and the Halloween spirit was at its brim, Highlands Haunted House 9: Stranger Things opened to our anxiously waiting students! For an entire week, teams entered our spooky scary haunted house led by guides, and faced glowing walls, animatronics, and terrifyingly good actors. Throughout everything, we know we made Halloween 2021 a memorable time for the students of Highlands Intermediate. Go Colts! Mia, Student Council Vice President

Halloween Dress Up 2018
October 31st is finally here -- Halloween! At long last... students campus wide got to don their costumes and roam the halls of Highlands with tons of laughs and some chills! Everyone was so hyped up to come to school because it's like living in an actual horror film, an action movie or being in the internet everywhere you go ;) There was a lot of people watching during the morning, recess and lunch as there was such a variety of costumes going around. Even better was all the teachers that dressed up too! To add even more excitement, students told ghost stories, joked around and looked forward to the big Halloween Costume Contest to come at lunch time... Halloween is the BEST!!! Halloween Day 2017
Bring on your spooks and scares, prince and princesses, and don’t forget them funny costumes to school...for it’s time for a Halloween Dress Up!!! According to our previous weather person, Josiah, Halloween took Highlands by storm but this year -- not only did it take it by storm but it also influenced everybody in school to take their chance to get in the Halloween spirit. Everywhere you looked there were so many types of species in the Highlands Intermediate Savana! Down the hall, you saw a giant inflatable dinosaur talking story with its peers and on the left you there was the one and only Cleopatra hanging out with Winnie the Pooh, Tigger and Piglet. As you might have heard, you should never take Highlands Intermediate so lightly when it comes to Halloween ;) Natania, Spirit Committee Co-Chairperson

Spirit Week 2017
Have you ever day-dreamed about yourself being the talk of the crowd and strutting those hallways with no fear because your outfit is absolutely breathtaking?!? Well,Spirit Week is the week to be FABULOUS!!! Everyday we had new themes that you are allowed to dress up in so you can make your dreams and fantasies into a reality! By our nature, also known as Student Council, we chose the best of the best such as Sporty Monday, Disney and Pixar Tuesday, Wacky Wednesday, Throwback Thursday, and finally Heroic Friday. Who needs virtual reality to be who you want to be when it’s right here at your very own school!! Everywhere you looked you saw people in volleyball uniforms and sports jerseys, Mickey and Stitch costumes, colored hair and enormous glasses, afros and shimmering clothing, and lastly Batman and Superman look-alikes. In addition to a dress ups, there was a special lunch activity for each day… kicking it off was Sports Day and the annual Teacher vs. Student Dodgeball Game! Tuesday was Disney day were we had the insane Penny War where people bolted straight for their teams jar and filled it with coins while bombing the others with dollars so they’d lose. It was so intense the tables almost fell to the ground several times! If you thought that was crazy then look no further than the Wacky Wednesday Costume Contest and all the student contestants vying for the throne of wacky! On Throwback Thursday we had the whole school -- all 1,000 students and teachers -- play “FACE THAT COOKIE” AT THE SAME TIME during Homeroom!!! At long last Heroic Friday was upon us and the cafeteria was filled with not only students dancing to lit music but also playing and dancing in the dark with glow in the dark games and clothes. In the end everyone had their smiles and laughs from unforgettable memories...this keeps us smiling and looking forward to try and change the world and try to make it more beautiful than it was before.
