Student Council Induction Ceremony 2026

The Highlands Intermediate School library transformed into a hub of leadership for our Student Government Induction Ceremony! Hosting the event right in our own library made the day feel incredibly special. The room was packed with proud families, staff, and distinguished guests, including local State Representatives, Senators, and Principals from across the Leeward District.  The energy stayed high all afternoon thanks to our fantastic emcees, Mr. White and our student government officers. They kept the crowd laughing and moving through the program smoothly. A major highlight was celebrating our dedicated two-year council members and presenting the official National Student Council Award certificates for national excellence.  It wouldn't be a Highlands event without some humor, so we wrapped up with the Student Council "Funny Awards." These lighthearted certificates highlighted the hilarious personalities and inside jokes of our council members. From the inspiring speeches to the final laughs, the entire ceremony was an absolute blast!  Sophia Marie Kim, Student Government Secretary

Student Council Q1 Bonding: Pearlridge 2025

The Highlands Intermediate Student Council started the school year with Quarter 1 bonding at Pearlridge. Each member and their group selected an escape room challenge to test their teamwork. It was a fun, exciting, and interactive event as everyone worked together to solve puzzles and escape. After completing the escape room, we headed to Spirit Halloween to gather decorations and inspiration for the upcoming annual Haunted House. While browsing through the aisles, we saw many unique and creative animatronics. We ended the day at Big City Diner, where everyone had the chance to sit down and enjoy a meal together. — Ashlynn Peralta SG President

Student Council Boot Camp 2023

As Summer Break 2023 finally came to an end, the Highlands Student Council wrapped up the season of sun with a bang! Tradition has it that at the start of each new school year, Student Council Alumni come back to their beloved alma mater to prepare the new Student Council members for the roles and jobs for the upcoming school year. The event is called Student Council Boot Camp and there were tons of icebreakers, energizers, cheers, trust exercises and dances to get everyone pumped up and ready for the new year!!! Student Council Boot Camp 2023 was an incredible experience as all participants were laughing, smiling, getting to know one another all while having so much fun ;) This event was surely one to remember, while also being the first awesome event to kick off the brand new school year! :)  Sienna Uekce, Student Government Vice-President
