Welcome Back Assembly '12 "Superheroes to the Rescue!"

Friday -- August 10, 2012: a most awesome day -- the Welcome Back Assembly! The Welcome Back Assembly was held at the Gym, from 1:10-2:10 p.m. We had Kutmaster Spaz (OC16’s Dis n’ Dat) to emcee our event, and DJ Packo on the turntables! We also introduced this year’s school theme: Superheroes! We had a superhero representing each team for this school year and their superheroes will be the ones to inspire and encourage them to work hard and play harder throughout the entire year. We also introduced the new teachers and blasted out into a flash mob to Beyonce’s “Move Your Body.” We also marked the start of this year’s Spirit Point Competition where we first gave away tons of spirit points through Minute to Win It games.  The grade level and team cheer competitions, were hosted by Nolan Arasato (Hawaii State Student Council Representative) and Kutmaster Spaz. We also donated to the Make A Wish Foundation and presented them with the check of $1,119.00!!! Everyone, the students, faculty, and staff had a blast! The Welcome Back Assembly was a great success and we all know that this is going to be one "super" year at Highlands!
