Highlands Leadership Workshop 2014

What was the highlight of your day? Seeing your friends? Teachers? Or maybe just eating lunch. For some, it was the Highlands Leadership Workshop 2014! I asked many students, what was your favorite part of the workshop? The students answered the activities. Some activities we played include monkey business, water towers, school spirit machine skits with toobers and zots, and many energizers. These activities weren't just fun, they taught leadership, and how to work together with people that you just met. For example, monkey business taught communication and cooperation, or water towers also taught cooperation, but also critical thinking. However, the Leadership Workshop also has educational value. The students learned about the 15 nuggets of leadership. These nuggets are key terms in learning about leadership. For example, nugget 5, is trust is a must. This means that a leader can't only give jobs to only a chosen view, but trust in everyone's potential that they will get the job done. Overall, the Highlands Leadership Workshop was an epic experience and the students will absolutely use all the helpful strategies, and skills throughout the 2014-2015 school year!
