Student Council Bonding: Farewell 2024
On Wednesday, May 22nd, the Highlands Intermediate Student Council held their final bonding activity of the 23-24 school year in the StuCo Room. To kick off the event, all current 8th Grade Student Council members stamped their hands on poster paper with purple paint to represent them “signing off” as a student council member for the year. Then, everyone took out a bag of candy they brought and made a candy salad by pouring all of them into a container and mixing it up. Since it was our advisor, Mr. White's birthday, we surprised him with a cake and sang him “Happy Birthday” to his astonishment and surprise ;) We all got to eat an epic potluck late lunch while we watched “Lilo and Stitch”, our theme for the upcoming Farewell Dance. Then, the real fun began with the ultimate water balloon fight!!! Student Council split into two teams and fought each other with water balloons and water guns in an epic hour-long battle that was sooooooooo fun! We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate and end this most epic school year ;) Rhylie, Student Government Treasurer

Farewell Dance 2023
As the school year came to the end, the Farewell Dance 2023 was a great way to wrap up the most “fantastic” school year ever! On the last day of the 2022 - 2023 school year students got to spend time with their friends and made some great memories! Through activities such as the Aloha Store, Airbrush Tattoos, two photo booths, balloon twisters, the Moana movie and DJ, this was definitely a a dance to be remembered ;) On top of all of that it was those concessions - especially that Kona Ice! - that made this Moana themed dance so amazing! We wish everyone an amazing and restful summer and we’ll see you all again in the Fall! Jaylin Shirafuji Dance Committee Chairperson
Farewell Assembly 2023
To say goodbye to the 2022-2023 school year, we celebrated with the entire Highlands ‘ohana at our annual Farewell Assembly on Friday, May 26 at the Pearl City District Park Gym. This special event kicked off with the staff & teachers dancing and performing as NSYNC saying their final “Bye, Bye, Byes!” to the 8th Graders (the Class of 2027) who will be missed, leaving us and moving on to high school. Next was the Highlands Hip Hop Club and the annual Farewell Video 2023 where admin, teachers, staff and students are featured in a video giving advice, insight and their favorite memories of the past school year. The highlight of the assembly was when students gave leis and their aloha to the teachers that were leaving Highlands, thanking them for their hard work and sacrifice. This brought tremendous joy, comfort, with a hint of sadness… it really was a bittersweet. No matter what, all you 8th Graders need to remember “Once a Colt, Always a Colt!” Best of luck to the incoming “Sevies” who will be the new 8th Graders. Most of all good luck in high school 8th Graders (Class of 2027)! And one last time before we head out on Summer Break…. Let’s remember our school motto: “We are Colts! CREATIVE, OPTIMISTIC, LOYAL, TENACIOUS, STUDENTS!” Au Revior, Farewell, Adios, A Hui Hou! Cailin. 7th Grade Council
