OSCAR Work Day

Such creativity! Student Council members stayed after school to work hard on their OSCAR Portfolio. The OSCARs are full of pages detailing activities with lots of pictures and a narrative description to describe all the details. All different kinds of scissors, different colors of papers, took over the classroom! Scraps from paper and pictures, glitter and tape, were scattered all over the place!! Music playing loud in the background, we all took a trip back down memory lane -- it was such a nice and focused work day after another long day at school ;) Britnee, SG Secretary

Leadership Class

What a year it’s been, already!  We've planned and run a ton of activities so far, like the Welcome Back Assembly, Spirit Week 2016, Highlands Haunted House 4, the Valentine’s Dance, all the Intramurals, and so much more! The 2015-16 school year might be the best year ever, but there was so much more to it. In our Leadership Class, our main focus is how to be the best leader we possible can be. One of the best books for that is called “The 7 Habits for Highly Effective Teens” by Sean Covey.  All I can say that that book has changed my perspective in being a leader and also, life. The book has taught us how to become a successful person not only in work or school, but also as a human being. Mr. White also showed us the many activity planning tools to help make each event we plan such a success: Activity Planning Process, Project Proposals, Project Planner, Micro Plan, and the Action Plan. The last component is the most fun -- student facilitated icebreakers and energizers to start off each class!  Leadership Class is so important to all of us 8th Grade StuCo members -- it’s a class we will always remember!  Thank you, Mr. White!!!
