Fun Friday 2

Fun Friday 2 at Highlands Intermediate was an exciting and memorable way to celebrate the end of the school year. The event brought together students from both grade levels for a lunch full of energy, school spirit, and fun activities that kept everyone engaged from start to finish. Everywhere you looked, students were participating, cheering, and representing their teams. The lines for activities were long, which only showed how popular and successful each station was. Along with the fun, students were also competing to earn spirit points for their teams, adding an extra layer of excitement and friendly competition. One of the standout attractions was the student dunk tank. Many students lined up for the chance to dunk their favorite student council members, making it one of the most entertaining parts of the day. Laughter and cheers could be heard across the campus every time someone hit their target. However, the most popular activity of all was the prize wheel. The line stretched across the entire court, with students eagerly waiting for their turn to spin and win prizes. Its popularity made it the highlight of Fun Friday 2, drawing the biggest crowd and keeping the excitement going throughout the event. To close out the day, the competition for spirit points reached its peak. The 8th grade team, Koa Kou Lio, made history by earning over 1,000 spirit points—the highest total ever achieved. Their enthusiasm and participation truly stood out and made their victory well deserved. Overall, Fun Friday 2 was a huge success. It was a perfect way for students to come together, celebrate the school year, and create lasting memories before heading into the next chapter.  — Avery Chagami, Dance Committee

Fun Friday 1

We heard the cries of students who were so stressed out over all the papers, quizzes, tests and projects coming up at the end of Q3… Students, be stressed no longer for BEHOLD -- THE BEST THING A MIDDLE SCHOOLER CAN EVER DREAM OF: FUN FRIDAY!!! Fun Friday is basically a quick break from all the stress of school by having super fun in the P.E. Courtyard once a month til the end of the year!  On Friday, March 9, the activity was filled with tons of entertaining games like Archery, Strikeout!, Basketball Shoot-Out!, Bucket Pong, Giant Checkers, Mini Golf and Cornhole!!! Smiles were everywhere as students from different teams challenged each other for tons of spirit points! Fun Friday was the greatest way for students to get out there and have fun and also savagely try to win in competing games. Let’s look forward to Fun Friday 2 in April!!!  Natania, Spirit Committee Chairperson

Kindness Week 2017

Kids these days are either growing humps on their backs, growing mushrooms on their head, or have frowns that need to be turned upside down because of all the stress induced by the end of the quarter. So, to brighten up people’s day and change this dispiriting atmosphere,  Kindness Week has arrived to rain smiles and happiness among these joyless students! What’s so special about it is that it only happens once a year and small actions transform into something beautiful like the cherry blossoms in the Spring! Once the Kindness Week forms were passed out at the beginning of the week, students took it as a joke just so they can earn the special treat. But, as time flew by we grew closer and closer together as a school with each random act of kindness bestowed! Our formula for success was 1,000 x 16 Acts of Kindness = 16,000 Awesome Deeds!!! By the end of the week, absolutely everyone had a smile on their face -- not because they stuffed their face with ice cream, but because their hearts were filled with happiness and gratitude ;) Thanks to everyone who showed kindness and good deeds... After all, no act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.  Natania, Spirit Committee Chairperson

Fun Friday 2 -- The Final Lunch Activity of the Year!

Due to popular demand, we brought back our April Fun Friday event as a grand finale lunch activity to end to this awesome school year! On May 19, 2017 the Spirit Committee ran Fun Friday 2 with face-to-face, team vs. team competitions with super fun games like Giant Jenga, Giant Connect 4, and we also brought back Dodgeball Duel with 2 courts which resulted in some really heated competition within teams to earn those very last spirit points! To top it all off, we introduced our Farewell Wheel of Fortune where we gave away a ton of giant inflatables, summertime leis and glasses, floaties and of course, more spirit points! There were an estimated 500 students who participated and judging by the looks and smiles, it was a HUGE success! Such a success, that Fun Friday should be incorporated throughout the year next school year... All in all, this year’s final lunch activities was the icing on the cake to an already amazing, can’t be duplicated year.  Great job to all the students in working hard to play harder ;)  All the spirit points will be tabulated and we’ll have a final Highlands Spirit Point Tally 16-17 to share with all of you in a couple of days…  Josiah, Spirit Committee Chairperson
