Spirit Week 2025: Sports Day

We brought the heat for our latest event, showing up in full force wearing our favorite sports gear! Whether it was NBA legends or local heroes, seeing everyone dressed up set the perfect tone for a day of friendly competition.  The competition heated up with our Wacky Relays. We started with the Balloon Snake, a hilarious test of teamwork where staying connected was the only way to win. If one person moved too fast, the whole snake fell apart!  But the real adrenaline rush came from Knock 'Em Down. Picture this: a room full of students armed with foam pool noodles, trying to defend a cup while attacking their neighbors'. It was a battle of multitasking and reflexes that became an instant fan favorite. It was the perfect way to burn off energy and bond through a little friendly rivalry.  Scott, Leadership Class

Spirit Week 2019: Sports Day

He shoots, he scores! Sports Day 2019 was full of excitement and sports fans repping their favorite team's jerseys and gear. Our students were given the chance to dress up in sports uniforms and jerseys and express their love for their favorite sports. This Thursday's lunch activity was a Sports Day Scavenger Hunt. One boy, one girl, and one teacher from each team walked throughout campus with one student council member using riddles to find the places they had to go to to retrieve the 7 missing intramural equipment. Whoever got back the fastest without breaking any rules and all of the equipment in hand won. All the teams had a blast and were able to show their competitive spirits through this scavenger hunt. For this lunch activity, team Hui Mana’o came in 1st place! Go Mana’o!  Sports Day couldn't have ran more smoothly and was so much fun to participate in. Abby, 8th Grade President

Spirit Week 2018 "Sports Day"

Cheers, jeers, and laughing echoed across the Cafeteria as a very tense competition was in full swing on the stage! The 2018 Spirit Week had officially kicked off and the first activity was the Sports Trivia Challenge! This year, all 7 teams line up on the stage, each team was represented with one teacher and one student. Each team has a white board and a dry erase pen to write their answers. As Mr. White called out the trivia question, every team rushed to scribble their answers as quickly onto the whiteboard as possible! With Ho’oko and Ku I Ka Pono in the lead, Mr. Ogata complained about his arthritis and everyone was rolling in laughter ;) Some of the questions were very difficult, but surprisingly most of the questions were answered by at least one of the teams. In the end, the whole activity was an overall success and we were able to pull it off without any complications. Judging from the reviews, the Sports Day Sports Trivia Challenge was an exciting experience for not just the participants, but for the crowd and us student council members! That’s how to get the “spirit” into Spirit Week!  Arisa, Athletics Co-Chairperson
