Student Council Induction Ceremony 2025

Well, it's finally time to honor and say goodbye to the current Highlands Intermediate Student Council and welcome in the new... it was bittersweet to say the least! The Highlands Student Council Induction Ceremony 2025 took place on Saturday - April 27 at the brand new Dave & Buster’s at Ala Moana. Our special guest was City Councilman Brandon Elefante and Representative Corey Chun who had some insightful and encouraging words for both the current and incoming members in the audience. Even more impressive was that the entire Student Government 23-24 (Rysen, Sienna, Rhylie and Keely) was present to give us some uplifting words of encouragement and insight! Later, we congratulated the current student council for an amazing job this year and then had a candle lighting ceremony where the new student council members agreed to a pledge, an oath for their new roles. After the official ceremony we planned on lightening things up with some team building activities...like the Ultimate Arcade Challenge! In all, the Highlands Student Council Induction Ceremony 2025 was as meaningful as it was fun! This amazing event will not soon be easily be forgotten...

Student Council Induction Ceremony 2024

To signal the end of this year and to welcome the next we hosted the annual Highlands Intermediate Student Council Induction Ceremony! This event was held in the Pa'ina room at Dave & Buster's Honolulu and included special guest speakers like Senator Brandon Elefante, State House Representative Corey Chun, Dr. Sandy Cameli, Hawai'i State Student Council Advisor Ms. Tiffany Frias, and Pearl City High School 11th Grade President Taryn Hodges! Parents and family were in attendance to see their sons and daughters win awards, participate in the candle lighting ceremony, and in the end, Student Council members bond with the final activity - the Arcade Challenge Team Builder. More importantly, this annual tradition celebrates our current Student Council by looking back at their hard work, dedication and accomplishments throughout this most amazing school year. Also, the incoming Student Council is there to bear witness and carry the torch forward for the next generation of Highlands leadership... Chazlyn Septimo-Contreras, Dance Committee

Now your final award goes to…us! The Highlands Intermediate Student Council Induction Ceremony 2019 was a day to remember! This annual event was held at the Pa’ina Room at David Buster’s in downtown Honolulu. Everyone, parents and students, came in with such excitement and wonder! Our special guest this year was Representative Takayama, StuCo President 17-18 Bianca Tamayo, and StuCo President 16-17, Noelani “Dance Machine” Tugaoen! Today was a day  where the torch was passed from the current HIS Student Council to the incoming one. Student Council Induction Ceremony 2018

Goodbye to the old, hello to the new! It was farewell for the HIS StuCo 2017-2018, and hello and welcome HIS StuCo 2018-2019! The Highlands Student Council Induction Ceremony 2018 was a very emotional event for us -- it was fun, sad, exciting, memorable, and special all at once...  First we started the ceremony off with a few speeches from Mr. White, Representative Gregg Takayama, and Dr. Sandy Cameli. Then there was our lighting ceremony, where the current Student Council members remembered their time served in Student Council, and we welcomed the incoming Student Council members.  After the formal part, we got to eat!!! Dave and Buster’s served us with some very delicious food! While everyone was eating we had some funny awards to give out to some special current student council members;). There was the Class DJ Award for Jenna, the Ninja Champ for Patrick, the Wonka Award for Merrick, and the Professor Armstrong Award for Caleb!! Then we had some time to take some awesome pictures at the photo booth!  Finally to end our ceremony, Dave and Buster’s ran a Mad Dash team builder activity! I’ll always remember my time served in the Highlands Student Council 2017-2018, and everyone who served will always be family to me. What an amazing year we had…. SG Vice-President, Skyla
