Halloween Activities 2010

Now didn't that scare your socks off!?!  On October 28th, 2010, we had our annual Halloween Door Decorating contest!!!  This year's judges (Mr. White, Mr. Routon, Mrs. L. Keliiwaiwaiole) went around the entire school to judge all the homeroom doors to see which ones were the spookiest according to the judging rubric!  All doors were asked to have a theme and would be graded on Craftmanship, Originality and the "X-Factor."  The doors were so original....  from Dead Hello Kitty to Giant Frankenstein to even ones that had real fog!!!  The winners of this exciting contest were:
3rd Place --  K4 (Mr. Watanabe/ Mrs. Tominaga) "Paranormal"
2nd Place -- A3 (Mr. Arios) "Teacher's Graveyard"
1st Place -- A13- (Mrs. Cunningham)"Arachnaphobia!"

That was exciting but that wasn't all the fun!  On Oct. 29, 2010, the student government and the leadership class ran a costume shop in the morning before school and at recess in the Main Courtyard.  It was so awesome!  There were masks, pirate hats, blinky rings, spikey bracelets, fake mustaches and all sorts of cool stuff!  It was really a hit with the students!  Later, during Lunch, the Assembly Committee presented the annual Highlands Halloween Costume Contest in the Cafeterai where students competed to be the spookiest, funiest, and Most Original, and Group Costume!

Mummy Wrap Winner -- Team Laulima!!!

All in all, we had lots and lots of spine-chilling fun and we definitely showed that Highlands Intermediate has Halloween Spirit!!!
