SLC '12 (Student Leadership Conference)
This past summer, the Highlands Student Government went to the three-day Student Leadership Conference held at the University of Hawaii at Manoa on July 19-21, 2012. This year’s theme was “Leaders Got Game!” We had great loads of fun at this conference and we learned a lot about leadership, time management, team work, communication, and learning how to be a better leader. During the three days, we had mini-breakout sessions, which were classes we took based on our individual interests. We also had group dynamics sessions in which we had guest speakers which inspired us and motivated us to not only become better leaders but also to be the voice of the students. We also learned some energizers, which helped us start off our day with a positive attitude. At night, we’d have our tranquility activities, which helped us relax before we went off to the dormitory and rest up for the next day. Along the journey, we were able to make many friends, create tons of memories, exchange our ideas for other ideas from different people. “Come on leaders, do your thing! Get it, get it, get it, get it? Got it, got it, got it, got it!”
