Welcome Back Assembly '14 "May The Odds Be Ever In Our Favor..."

On August 14th, 2014 school and team spirit were on full display at the Welcome Back Assembly 2014. During the assembly we introduced this year's school theme -- "Hunger Games...May The Odds Be Ever in Our Favor!" The entire gym was transformed into scenes from the Hunger Games and was reflected in everything from epic dance performances to decorations and videos to the District Tributes to the Volunteers in the audience!  After all of the introductions, we kicked the WBA '14 into high gear with two dance performances the first by Diverse Art and the other by The Rascals! Both groups kept the crowd roaring for more!  A huge part of our assembly was the start of the annual Highlands Spirit Competition. The competitors were fast and fierce, and their supporters were cheering with encouraging screams and shouts!  Along with the amazing Hunger Games set design it felt as if we were actually in the Hunger Games!  There was a jungle arena covering the makai side of the gym, complete with palm trees, waterfall, and even a digital scoreboard!  On the opposite side of the gym was the sophisticated, gloomy Capitol of Panem. As you can easily see, the Welcome Back Assembly '14 was a huge success!  Congratulations to District 4 and District D for coming out in a tie for 1st Place in the Spirit Competition!  The year is long and we have so many more events to compete in, and this is just the beginning... we say to all the Districts --"May The Odds Be Ever in Your Favor..."
