Welcome Back Assembly 2024 “Adventure Time!”

“Hey! Hey you! Welcome to H.I.S!” Student Council cheers and chants let students know that the new year at Highlands was going to be absolutely memorable and amazing! Students from all 7 teams entered into a fanciful world of cartoons and everyone was so excited by all the amazing decorations! This year’s Welcome Back Assembly 2024 “Adventure Time!” took place on August 15th at the Gym where students were greeted with amazing vibes and music. The show started off with the anthems followed by the new Student Council and Teachers introductions which then broke out into awesome dance routines! The part everyone was waiting for was the kick off to the Highlands Spirit Competition 24-25 which was the annual Team Cheer Competition where each team would get to try to cheer the loudest for the first spirit points of the new school year. Team Kupono (Bluey) showed their team spirit and they came out on top! Following that, we had several other activities such as Jan-Kan-Po Race, Cartoon Character Relay Race, Dancing Telephone, and Cartoon Character Red Light, Green Light! It was sooooo fun seeing all the contestants competing and the crowd cheering for their teams. This all couldn’t have been done without everyone who came to help before, during and after the Assembly, so our biggest thanks is to you guys! What an amazing start to the school year?!?.... Welcome Back Assembly 2023 "Calling All Heroes!"

We’re “Calling All Heroes” to make sure that the 23-24 school year becomes the school year ever!. As the students returned to school, Student Council wanted to make sure that everyone was super hype to start the new school year with the Welcome Back Assembly that took place August 17 @ the gym. Student Council welcomed everyone to the event with energetic cheers as DJ JoJo Flow slammed the hits on the turntables! The Welcome Back Assembly 2023 kicked off with some of our most favorite teachers coming out and showing off their amazing dance routine! After the amazing start, it then led to the introduction of the HIS Student Council their new dance routine this year ;). Continuing on with introductions, we showcased all 10 new teachers and were even more excited to see them perform and ham it up for the crowd!!! The second half of the assembly was the start of the Highlands Spirit Competition 23-24 which began with the annual tradition: Cheer Competition! Team Laule’a (Luigi) came out on top and surprised the crowd with their volume and tenacity ;) We then played several spirit games with teachers and students from all the teams… the games we played were: Head - Shoulders - Knees - Cup, Cups Up, Cups Down!, Mario Kart Racer Relays, and Clean Your Room! The contestants whipped the crowd into a frenzy and it was so much fun to see everyone competing so vigorously for all those spirit points! After an enjoyable and successful Welcome Back Assembly 2023, Student Council just can’t wait to see what the rest of the year will be like…  Keely Tamayose, Student Government Secretary
