"Pump, pump, pump it up...pump that Highlands spirit up!" Spirit Week this year ran from November 29 til October 3 and it was a blast! Seeing everyone all dressed up and having fun was the best reward that week. It all started off with Pajama Day. Students got to dress up in there PJ's as long as it was within dress code. The lunch activity was a PJ Costume Contest. Students were judged on originality, costume, and stage presence. Next was Character Day. You could dress up as your favorite character from any movie, TV show, anime, video game, you name it. We had a trivia contest in the Cafeteria for the lunch activity and boy was it fun. Next up was Wacky Wednesday where everyone got to dress all wacky and crazy. So many students went all out -- we saw horse head and tie, Jake from state Farm, and several giant afros! We had had a Frozen T-Shirt Contest as the lunch activity for the teachers. Next was Sporty Day. Wow, we have a lot of athletes in Highlands! From volleyball, basketball, baseball, x-county, and track runners. There was a Hunger Games Archery Contest for the lunch activity. We saved the best for last and ended Spirit Week 2014 with our school theme, "Hunger Games Day!" Students dressed up as the District they were assigned. District 1 ('Ekahi) dressed up elegant as citizens of The Capitol. While District D (Laulima) dressed dressed as coal miners and butchers to represent as District 12. At lunch students came down to take a District Pictures for spirit points. The teams got extra spirit points if one of the students dressed as Katniss, Peeta, President Snow, or Elfie. If Spirit Week 2014 is any indication on how the rest of the school year will pan out, we're in for the best school year ever!!!
