Valentine’s Spirit Week at Highlands Intermediate School was filled with fun, laughter, and lots of love! Two exciting events brought students together to celebrate friendship and school spirit — Cupid Cam and Stolen Hearts. First up was Cupid Cam, hosted in the student council room. This was no ordinary photo booth! Students flocked to the room to snap adorable pictures with their friends and someone special. The room was decorated with cute backdrops, and a variety of props like heart-shaped glasses, funny hats, and love-themed signs made each photo extra special. It was the perfect way for students to capture memories and share smiles during the week of love. Meanwhile, all around campus, the game Stolen Hearts was in full swing. Early in the morning, students received colorful beaded necklaces, symbolizing their “hearts.” The game was a lively mix of strategy and fun. Students challenged each other to a traditional game called Jan Ken Po (rock-paper-scissors), but with a twist — if you challenged someone, you had to accept and play. The goal? Win necklaces from opponents and gather as many as possible. Once a student collected five necklaces, they could challenge teachers for extra points, adding an exciting twist to the game. Teachers were worth five points each, while students earned one point per necklace. Throughout the day, students eagerly played to boost their team’s score. The competition reached its climax during lunchtime, when those with the most necklaces gathered in the student council room for counting. The team with the highest points was celebrated as the winner, spreading school pride and friendly rivalry. Valentine’s Spirit Week 2026 was a wonderful celebration of friendship, teamwork, and school spirit. From the adorable photos at Cupid Cam to the exciting necklace challenges of Stolen Hearts, everyone had a chance to spread love and good cheer. It was a week to remember — full of smiles, games, and heartfelt connections! Avery Chagami, Dance Committee

Spirit Week 2025: Throwback Thursday
Throwback Thursday was full of energy and school spirit as everyone showed up dressed like it was the 2000s. The halls were packed with jorts, oversized jerseys, trucker hats, and backwards caps—it honestly felt like we had traveled back in time. Seeing everyone’s creative throwback outfits made the day even more exciting, and students were laughing, hyping each other up, and showing off their fits all day long. The activities made the celebration even better, especially the retro photo booth where friends snapped hilarious and unforgettable pictures together. From posing like early 2000s pop stars to recreating iconic trends, the photo booth was a huge hit. There were plenty of other fun activities happening throughout lunch, so there was never a dull moment. Throwback Thursday was an amazing part of Spirit Week 2025. It brought students together, boosted school spirit, and made the entire campus feel upbeat and connected. It’s definitely a day we won’t forget!Ryder Higgens, Leadership Class
