Highlands Intermediate hosts several assemblies, dances and other activities throughout the year all in one place -- the Pearl City District Park Gym! We love all the events in the Gym and it’s always a lot of fun, but it was always missing something.... the bleachers! Mr. White reminds us periodically that there was a time when the bleachers in our Gym worked and it made our activities rock! They seated all 1,000 students, teachers and staff members in an elevated tier so everyone could see the entire event without their views being obstructed. Our activities never seem as amazing as it was when the bleachers were available and working ;( It was at an SCC (School Community Council meeting) a few months ago where the issue was presented. The SCC suggested making a petition, having the entire school sign it and then present it to the Neighborhood Board to see if they could act upon the petition. Currently, Councilman Brandon Elefante has listened and is working on a solution. We will follow up with him and hopefully report back with some amazing news, right?!? Stay tuned….
