Welcome Back Assembly 2023 "Calling All Heroes!"

We’re “Calling All Heroes” to make sure that the 23-24 school year becomes the school year ever!. As the students returned to school, Student Council wanted to make sure that everyone was super hype to start the new school year with the Welcome Back Assembly that took place August 17 @ the gym. Student Council welcomed everyone to the event with energetic cheers as DJ JoJo Flow slammed the hits on the turntables! The Welcome Back Assembly 2023 kicked off with some of our most favorite teachers coming out and showing off their amazing dance routine! After the amazing start, it then led to the introduction of the HIS Student Council their new dance routine this year ;). Continuing on with introductions, we showcased all 10 new teachers and were even more excited to see them perform and ham it up for the crowd!!! The second half of the assembly was the start of the Highlands Spirit Competition 23-24 which began with the annual tradition: Cheer Competition! Team Laule’a (Luigi) came out on top and surprised the crowd with their volume and tenacity ;) We then played several spirit games with teachers and students from all the teams… the games we played were: Head - Shoulders - Knees - Cup, Cups Up, Cups Down!, Mario Kart Racer Relays, and Clean Your Room! The contestants whipped the crowd into a frenzy and it was so much fun to see everyone competing so vigorously for all those spirit points! Talent Show 2023

This year’s Highlands Intermediate Talent Show 2023 was such a hit! Students got the opportunity to represent their Teams by showing their personal talents with their teachers, staff, students, and friends! The performers had such bravery to sing, dance, show off their skills in dancing, singing and even speed-solving Rubik’s Cubes! From soloists, duos to whole teams - the performers worked it and worked the crowd hard to show off their talents. The audience was clapping and cheering with joy throughout all the performances - what excitement it was to behold?!? To top it all off, our special guests were none other than “Crossing Rain” who came not only to judge but also to perform! And let’s just say that their performance was the highlight of the event and they got swarmed with students and teachers alike asking for their autographs and pictures… it was just awesome! Winter Dance 2022: Yule Ball

After two years of social distancing and masks, we get to fully show off our Christmas Spirit with the Winter Dance 2022 “Yule Ball”! Students dressed to impress, many with holiday cheer vibrating all around them. Students crowded the dance floor dancing to all the hits while others ran in line to take pictures with their friends at the photo booth! The Yule Arcade was bursting with excitement as friends competed against friends to find out who was best at Super Smash Bros, Mario Kart and Madden (our 3 eSports)! Snacks and sweets from our teacher vendors sold out in minutes… Stuco selling Dippin’ Dots, Laule’a selling Kona Ice, Hui’ Manao selling Papa John’s pizza, SMC selling canned juice, EL club selling water, Aloha Aina selling musubis, and Koa Kau Lio selling Nutella sticks and gummy bears! Wizards and witches crafted their own wands at Ollivander’s Wand Shoppe while others took their chances at Professor Trelawney’s Wheel of Fortune.
