Did you think we would really let you miss the Farewell Assembly this year? COVID-19 and quarantines couldn’t stop this show from going on! On Friday - May 22, Highlands Intermediate hosted its very first Virtual Farewell Assembly 2020. The assembly made its premiere on the HIS Student Council YouTube Channel for the students, staff, teachers, parents, alumni and whoever else that wanted to tune in. A highlight of the assembly was during the 8th Grade Farewell Video that was organized by Mr. Shipley. It showcased our favorite teachers giving advice for the future and saying their goodbyes. Watching those videos really brought everyone joy and comfort during these troubling and uncertain times. The virtual assembly helped us all feel a little more like we were back to normal, even for just for a moment ;) It was very bittersweet yet so memorable at the same time. The students of Highlands all know that we will always be Colts and that we will always be welcome at Highlands Intermediate. In closing, we’d like to share our school motto for the last time... “We are Colts! Creative! Optimistic! Loyal! Tenacious Students! A Hui Hou to all of the teachers sadly leaving us this year and especially to the Class of 2024…. Abby, 8th Grade President
