Student Leadership Conference 2023

On June 8 - 10, the Highlands Intermediate Student Council joined dozens of other Councils from across the State at the Hawaiian Convention Center to learn all about different leadership skills and techniques. Accommodations for the three day, 2 night event were at the Ala Moana Hotel right across street - so fun ;) As we arrived, we entered feeling excited and thrilled when greeted with the Hawai'i State Student Council facilitators! Immediately, we were all put into groups based on the theme of the conference, "Groundbreaking Leadership!" There were about a dozen groups - Rubies, Amethyst, Tiger’s Eye, and Diamonds to name just a few. In the first General Session we learned that "Ground Breaking Leadership" meant that under pressure, we endure, survive, learn and in the end come out as precious gemstones. The highlight of the conference was the annual Color Olympics on the first night where all the groups challenged each other in various games of skill and teamwork. Day 2 also consisted of a variety of different activities from local vendors to teambuilders and challenges, small group dynamics but it was the bonding activity later that evening that was one night to remember! The entire conference boarded buses out to Germaine’s Luau in Kapolei which is situated right on beach! The views and vibes were breathtaking ;) After the show and dinner we all got to dance the night away along with all the other amazing activities!!! By the time we went home on Day 3, we all could rest assured that Student Leadership Conference 2023 might just be the most amazing activity we've ever been too...
