Student Leadership Conference 2024

3, 2, 1 Blast Off! Student Leadership Conference 2024 was themed as an intergalactic space adventure, opening new horizons for our leaders to explore the meaning of leadership. SLC was filled with energizers left and right, out of this world mini games, engaging rotation sessions, and much more! We Colts experienced an opportunity to make new friends and learn incredible points on leadership. This year's SLC was packed with out of this world leaders learning how to further their mission and lead the way for others! SLC 2024 was such a blast and we can’t thank Hawaii State Student Council enough for hosting this event and inviting us year after year!!! Student Leadership Conference 2023

On June 8 - 10, the Highlands Intermediate Student Council joined dozens of other Councils from across the State at the Hawaiian Convention Center to learn all about different leadership skills and techniques. Accommodations for the three day, 2 night event were at the Ala Moana Hotel right across street - so fun ;) As we arrived, we entered feeling excited and thrilled when greeted with the Hawai'i State Student Council facilitators! Immediately, we were all put into groups based on the theme of the conference, "Groundbreaking Leadership!" There were about a dozen groups - Rubies, Amethyst, Tiger’s Eye, and Diamonds to name just a few. In the first General Session we learned that "Ground Breaking Leadership" meant that under pressure, we endure, survive, learn and in the end come out as precious gemstones. The highlight of the conference was the annual Color Olympics on the first night where all the groups challenged each other in various games of skill and teamwork. Day 2 also consisted of a variety of different activities from local vendors to teambuilders and challenges, small group dynamics but it was the bonding activity later that evening that was one night to remember! The entire conference boarded buses out to Germaine’s Luau in Kapolei which is situated right on beach! The views and vibes were breathtaking ;) After the show and dinner we all got to dance the night away along with all the other amazing activities!!! By the time we went home on Day 3, we all could rest assured that Student Leadership Conference 2023 might just be the most amazing activity we've ever been too... Student Leadership Conference 2022

SLC 2022 was one of the most amazing student-led events, actually one of the best events I’ve ever attended! The conference kicked off with all attendees being greeted with uplifting energizers and cheers from our high school facilitators. Then, we proceeded straight to the auditorium for an introduction to the conference, our teams and facilitators, and special guest speaker, Ty Sells! Energized and pumped up we got broken up into our teams and headed for the breakout rooms. This is where we met our team leaders and learned all the different cheers and energizers and also how and when to properly use them. Before you know it we had another short assembly followed with an amazing lunch where we got to socialize and hang out with so many new friends ;) Following lunch we assembled in the Gym for the annual “Color Olympics” where each team challenged each other in a variety of wild and zany games for spirit points and more importantly… team pride! We had more special guests in Crossing Rain, Hawaii’s only homegrown K-Pop band who had the whole crowd up on their feet singing and dancing along! SLC ended with one big social event, a glow dance in the Gym which I wish lasted forever… well, at least the memories will for this most epic event ;) Elijah, Assembly Committee

Student Leadership Conference 2019

“A leader is one who knows the way, and shows the way.” James Maxwell.  SLC, or Student Leadership Conference, is an event where student leaders from all of the islands come together to learn leadership from the Hawai’i State Student Council.  This 2 day - 1 night event was held at the Hawai’i Convention Center in downtown Honolulu.  Once we got there we were shocked and amazed at the greeting our HSSC hosts gave us that day from the moment we step off the bus to our sad/happy goodbyes on the last  day!  Everyone was laughing, smiling, and enjoying the enthusiasm and excitement that is SLC!  Throughout the days we were learning the ways of leadership through General Sessions (special guest was Mr. Kevin Wazner!!!)  and Breakout Sessions run by our HSSC facilitators. Our night time bonding activity was out-of-this-world awesome! We spent the late afternoon into the night at Germaine’s Luau, oceanside!!!  We got to enjoy all kinds of Polynesian singing and dancing which was highlighted by an amazing fire knife dance at the very end!  We even got to have a dance party in the sand and participate in over a dozen other activities like night beach volleyball, Mobile Gamer Guys, shaved ice and tons more... The final day’s highlight was called Color Olympics and we had so much fun competing against all the other teams - it was loud, it was ruckus, it was team bonding at it’s finest!!!  In the end, we had so much fun at SLC 2019 and it was the best of times for all… we will never forget it ;)  Brayden, Assembly Committee
