Hunger Games 7 Training Centers

“For there to be betrayal, there would have to have been trust first.” Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games

From the 25th - 26th of November, we had our annual Highlands Hunger Games training center on the 25h for the 7th Graders and the 26th for the 8th Graders. These days have been the best of fun, crazy , and hilarious adventures leading to shooting bolts , throwing grenades , and having the best of fun learning new experiences. On these two days Student Council taught all the Tributes the layout of the Hunger Games and what to do when the time comes for battle. As time went on for both days the students learned respect and made alliances to be applied for on the day cometh.  It also brought good memories and lots of “aha” moments of how to load the bolts into the Nerf crossbows and which end to shoot out of lol! Other comical moments came when Tributes had to figure out how to put the velcro vests and flag belts on the right way ;) Now that was a show to watch! To sum up, the Highlands Hunger Games 7 Training Center days were fun learning experience for all and made everyone happy from beginning to end - it was a memory they will never, ever forget!  Brayden, Assembly Committee

Hunger Games 5 Training Centers

The Hunger Games Training Center was a great opportunity for the 7th and 8th Tributes to get a taste of what they'll be doing in the actual Highlands Hunger Games come Wednesday -- November 22, 2017. The Hunger Games Training Center took place in the Student Council Room and it was loaded with fun weapons and other surprises!  The room was awesomely decorated with walls -- both in the theme of Hunger Games and Gotham City -- and a fully loaded shooting range! Student Council members helped with all 3 Training Center areas: shooting range, grenade toss, and capture the flag. The Tributes looked like they had so much fun as was evidenced by the excitement and wonder on their faces! Being a part of the hunger games training center was an amazing experience for both the Tributes and the Trainers ;)  Keilani, Assembly committee Chairperson

Highlands Hunger Games 4 Training Centers

As you walk in the Student Government room, all around you, you see weapons of mass destruction: crossbows, grenades, magical wands, and the ultimate -- the Megabow!!! Students honed their skills in locking, loading and aiming their weapons. Arrows flew, grenades were thrown, and wands clashed! It was jam packed in there with 70 tributes in the Student Council Room! Everyone had a blast and it really payed off in during our annual Hunger Games event!  It was really anyone's game and everyone wanted to win their round for their team. “May Magic be ever in your favor. And good luck to all...”  Sophia, SG President

Hunger Games 3 Training Centers

This year's Tributes -- 5 boys and 5 girls from each District -- were invited to the HHG3 Training Center in the old Metal Shop to hone their skills on the 3 weapons of choice for this year's annual Hunger Games. Tributes got to practice on the deadly crossbows, red hand grenades, and the new for this year's theme -- lightsabers! Student Council members went over the rules with their Tributes and they all had 5 minutes of target practice and sparring. The 7th Grade HHG3 Training Center took place on Monday 11/23 and the 8th Grade HHG3 Training Center took place the following day.  The training, guidance, and practice these Tributes received will no doubt allow them everlasting glory when they take to the Hunger Games 3 Arena at the Capitol the follow day... More importantly, "may the odds be ever in their favor!"
