We’re “Calling All Heroes” to make sure that the 23-24 school year becomes the school year ever!. As the students returned to school, Student Council wanted to make sure that everyone was super hype to start the new school year with the Welcome Back Assembly that took place August 17 @ the gym. Student Council welcomed everyone to the event with energetic cheers as DJ JoJo Flow slammed the hits on the turntables! The Welcome Back Assembly 2023 kicked off with some of our most favorite teachers coming out and showing off their amazing dance routine! After the amazing start, it then led to the introduction of the HIS Student Council their new dance routine this year ;). Continuing on with introductions, we showcased all 10 new teachers and were even more excited to see them perform and ham it up for the crowd!!! The second half of the assembly was the start of the Highlands Spirit Competition 23-24 which began with the annual tradition: Cheer Competition! Team Laule’a (Luigi) came out on top and surprised the crowd with their volume and tenacity ;) We then played several spirit games with teachers and students from all the teams… the games we played were: Head - Shoulders - Knees - Cup, Cups Up, Cups Down!, Mario Kart Racer Relays, and Clean Your Room! The contestants whipped the crowd into a frenzy and it was so much fun to see everyone competing so vigorously for all those spirit points! After an enjoyable and successful Welcome Back Assembly 2023, Student Council just can’t wait to see what the rest of the year will be like… Keely Tamayose, Student Government Secretary
