Congratulations to Team Koa Kau Lio: Highlands Spirit Competition Champions 25-26

We want to thank every student, staff, teacher and administrator who came out to participate and/or support student activities throughout the school year! Whether it was Penguins, Shrek, Trolls, Kung Fu Panda, Monsters And Aliens, How To Train Your Dragon, or Turbo - you all were so great participating in all the amazing cartoon-themed activities this year! It is our hope that we all created memories to last a lifetime… Now, we can’t think of a better time to announce the Highlands Intermediate Spirit Cup Champions for this 2025 -2026 school year! The winner is the team that accumulated the most spirit points all year long! They did not relent! They stayed together as a team the whole year and competed in every event with maximum skill and enthusiasm. And that team is none other than...drumroll please..... Team Koa Kau Lio! Huge props to Team Koa Kau Lio for taking the Highlands Spirit Cup to their team until next school year! As a result, Team Koa Kau Lio are the Highlands Intermediate Spirit Competition Winners 26-27 sy!!! Homeroom Representatives 25-26

Every Wednesday and Friday during Period 7, our campus comes alive with student leadership. This year, our 7th and 8th Grade Homeroom Representatives are officially back in action, meeting twice a week to map out the school year's biggest events—from energetic assemblies and intramurals to dances and community activities. Led by the Student Government team, these meetings are about much more than just planning parties. They serve as a vital sounding board for student feedback. Reps gather ideas, questions, and concerns directly from their peers and bring them to the table, ensuring student voices are directly shared with school administration. Through their hard work, these student leaders are keeping their classmates informed and actively shaping a better school environment. A big mahalo to all of our incredible Homeroom Representatives for making this school year one to remember!

Leeward District Student Council 25-26

Student government members from schools across the Leeward district came together at Kapolei Middle School for the Leeward District Student Council 2026 meeting. The gathering gave student leaders the opportunity to represent their schools, meet new people, and share ideas with other SG members from across the district. Before the official meeting started, students participated in a fun icebreaker activity to help everyone feel more comfortable and relaxed. The activity helped students connect with one another and successfully created a welcoming, energetic environment. During the meeting, students focused on collaboration and leadership development by:

• Discussing school environments and sharing common student concerns.
• Highlighting successful events and activities their respective student governments hosted throughout the year.
• Exchanging unique perspectives and learning from the diverse experiences of schools across the Leeward district.

The meeting was a fantastic opportunity for these student leaders to strengthen their communication skills, build lasting friendships, and continue growing as impactful leaders in their schools and communities. Shanell Saelua, Student Government Treasurer

Full Council 2025

The Highlands Intermediate Student Council Room was buzzing with ideas as our dedicated Homeroom Representatives came together for an important leadership meeting. Reps from every class joined forces to speak up for their peers and discuss the future of our campus. The focus was entirely on voice and action, as students split into groups to tackle school concerns, team concerns, and individual student concerns. After addressing the serious topics, the energy shifted into high-gear creative planning. The reps got to work creating vibrant, detailed posters to brainstorm ideas for the upcoming 26-27 Halloween Haunted House! Teams mapped out spooky themes, layout designs, and scare tactics to ensure next year's event is the most thrilling one yet. Working together to improve our school while designing an epic school event made the entire meeting an absolute blast. It was the perfect mix of leadership, teamwork, and fun, proving that our Homeroom Reps know exactly how to make Highlands Intermediate a better place for everyone. Elections 2025

Every year new student leadership has to be voted in to serve the students, staff and community of Highlands Intermediate. Voting is one of the most important aspects of our democracy and every student had the opportunity to participate and get their voice heard. The voting window for students was February 25-28 with the results being announced on February 28. During the Elections Campaign season, many flyers and posters were put up all over campus promoting the various students and their positions. Everyone was so creative and it was a great way to learn about them and their ideas. All candidates worked super hard to campaign and we want to congratulate all the new Student Council officers for the upcoming 25-26 sy.
