Highlands Lunch Count Competition 2018

Lunch and spirit points are my 2 favorite things -- so, this year’s Lunch Count Spirit Competition will surely be a great event! The rationale behind this event is that we want as many students to eat at our cafeteria during the next 4 weeks so we’ll get more lunch choices and more cafeteria workers the rest of the year.  I worked a recess shift and it truly was, a long line of seventh and eighth graders waiting in line to get one of Highlands’ school lunches slowly inching forward and proudly holding up their team lanyards just to tell me, “I’m here for my spirit points!”. As more and more people had come through and the tallies built up I had realized something that had made me even more proud of my team, the team that had the most people show up during recess was team Ho’oko, my team! In the end, I really hope that after this amazing activity my team ends up getting the most spirit points! Jasmine, Spirit Committee Chairperson

Cafeteria Lunch Count Spirit Competition 2017

Whoop whoop! We did it, Highlands! Cafeteria Lunch Count Spirit Competition 2017 is now complete, spirit points were given, and there was a winner declared! Starting from August 28, and ending three weeks later on September 15, the entire school was encouraged to eat school lunch in the cafeteria to support our lunch crew, and expand our food options, by tallying the number of team lanyards being worn by students in the cafe during recess and lunchtime over a span of 3 weeks. The team that came to the cafe to eat school lunch the most was team Laule'a "The Flash", winning 129 spirit points! Congratulations to everyone for supporting our cafeteria, and we still encourage you to eat our at the Cafeteria throughout the school year! Jenna, Assembly Committee Chair

Lunch Count Spirit Competition

Hey you! Yeah, you! Were you there at our cafeteria to participate in the Lunch Count Spirit Competition that took place over 4 weeks starting on August 24 th and ending on Tuesday September 14th?!? This competition was worth up to 400 spirit points for your team! The more people eating at recess and at lunch, the more points each team got! Thanks to this lunch count, more students at Highlands Intermediate are eating more frequently at recess and lunch! We also drew the names of 5 students who at during Breakfast to win awesome Jamba Juice gift cards every week of the competition! The student council was so amazed by the outcome of how much people ate for the lunch count spirit competition, and we look forward to doing it all over again next year! Sarah, 8th Grade Secretary
