Has there been someone on your mind recently? Perhaps a little crush? Well, Valentine’s Day is just around the corner! The Spirit Committee organized and ran an activity that took place at the Student Council Room and it was called “My Secret Valentine”. This activity took place Thursday 2/8 - Friday, 2/9. This event allowed you to send teddy bears, Ring Pops, Valentine’s jelly bracelets, heart shaped glasses, and much more! When you filled out the accompanying Valentine’s Card you could write your name or instead be mysterious and write it’s from a “secret admirer” or “someone special ;) Cupids then assembled on Valentine’s Day made special deliveries in Homerooms across the whole campus. This activity was a fun way to send a treat to someone you love or possibly someone you have your eye on. Thanks to Mr. White, the Spirit Committee and the rest of Student Council for running such an exciting activity for our school in time for Valentine’s Day 2024!!! Valentine's Bash 2022
Love was in the air on February 14th 2022! The theme was Up and you could feel the excitement and love in the air surrounding everyone! Even with all the limitations, Dance Committee was able to successfully throw Valentine's Bash 2022! There were loads of booths to enjoy: a total of 12 Valentines or Up themed booths! Even without a dress up, our bash was a total crowd pleaser! With a giant backdrop, bubble machines, inflatables, and more, it was a smashing success for us and everyone helping out us! And the teams definitely took advantage of the games and spirit points… Alaka’i left the bash with a total of 600 spirit points and Laule’a, right behind, with 555 spirit points! It was an event filled with joy and many smiling faces. Dance Committee enjoyed bringing happiness to all of your days with the Valentine’s Bash 2022! McKenna, Dance Committee Chair

Valentine's Shout Outs! 2022
Have you ever thought about writing a message to someone for Valentine's Day? Wanting to make them smile or happy upon one single note? Well, here comes Valentine's Shout Outs 2022! On February 10, 2022, Thursday afternoon at lunch, we had our spectacular Valentine's Shout Outs! Loads of hand-delivered hearts of many different shades of pink were passed out to Highlands students from the host of the activity, Spirit Committee! Students from 7th or 8th-grade homeroom would write down appreciative or even loving notes to close friends or partners! Some of them were even written anonymously, so good luck playing detective to find your secret admirer!! Then, those sweet messages were taped onto the wall, creating a stunning mural of hearts. Through this activity, we were able to show appreciation, love, and bring joy to the lives of many! And let's not forget the tasty prize for our lovely students or the spirit points for their participation! Many excited students came down with their unique hearts and left with treats as sweet as their messages. To decide the winners of the Shout Outs, the team with the most hearts would win. Can you guess which team won? Let's give a big round of applause for the winners and those who guessed it correctly, because the winning team of Valentine's Shout Outs was none other than team Alaka'i (4), aka Incredibles!! Their total amount of spirit points in the end was tallied into 150! We hope everyone enjoyed Valentine's Shoutouts! 2022 and congratulations to team Alaka'i!! Kayleen, Assembly Committee Chair

Valentine's 2022: Who's My Match?
Nothing speaks more of love than reuniting broken hearts! On Valentines, whether it’s romantic or platonic or for your friends or family, love is out there! Who's My Match: Valentines Edition was the sequel of the Thanksgiving Who’s My Match, but with broken hearts that needed to find their lost half. This activity started on the morning of Wednesday, February 9th, 2022 with a variety of pink and purple hearts with various designs like a beautiful heart engulfed in flames! These hearts were distributed to the period 5 teachers who gave each student half of a heart. When recess and lunch came around, students with a broken heart around their neck scouted out their lost half. When they were successful, they could come down to the library courtyard with their other half during lunch and win a special sweet treat and spirit points for their team! This activity is always a joy to play, and we hope it brought you some joy and maybe sparked a new friendship! Marychris, Assembly Committee Chair
