From soulful singing to captivating dance routines, the show was a true celebration of our students’ diverse abilities. Welcome Back Assembly 2025 "Livin the Dream!"

The Highlands Intermediate Gym was absolutely electric as students and staff gathered for our first official event of the year: the "Livin’ the Dream" Welcome Back Assembly! The energy was through the roof as we officially kicked off the school year with the highly anticipated Spirit Cup Competition. Classes went head-to-head in a series of wild, fast-paced challenges, including the Team Cheer Competition, a DreamWorks Kahoot, Head Shoulders Knees Color, Turbo Relays, Rock Paper Scissors Tag, and the Rock Paper Scissors Race, all to earn those crucial first points. The absolute highlight of the assembly came when our new teachers took the floor for a surprise performance. They showed off their best moves in a short, choreographed dance that had the entire student body cheering, laughing, and clapping along. It was the perfect way for the school to welcome our newest staff members and bring the community closer together through shared laughter and fun. Working together to build class unity while participating in an epic school event made the entire assembly an absolute blast. It was the perfect mix of competition, teamwork, and fun, proving that Highlands Intermediate knows exactly how to kick off the school year right. We truly set the bar sky-high for what it means to be "Livin’ the Dream" on our campus! Sophia Marie Kim, Student Government Secretary

Thanksgiving Assembly 2024: Race for the Cause

Welcome to the annual Thanksgiving Assembly 2024! In this event, the entire school gathered together in the Gym and to show our Thanksgiving spirit and love for community! Before the event, we started to talk more about Thanksgiving and what it's true meaning was. We then thought about how we could take the message of being thankful to then show our support and pride in the various community causes that are all around us! After finding our cause, we created logos to pin to our shirts as the entire school either walked, ran, or sprinted with their “Race For The Cause” logos which we designed during homeroom earlier in the day. There were also many cool shirt designs supporting foundations such as Make a Wish, Hawaiian Humane Society, and many more! And for those who didn't want to race in the sun, there was a "Just Dance" marathon that went down in the Gym! Overall, this event was super fun and great way to show support for those in need ;). Talent Show 2024

We decided to go out for Spring Break with a BANG!  We hope you enjoyed Highlands Intermediate’s 2024 Talent Show!  Acts ranged from dancing, singing, and a mix of both ;)  Our contestants put on their best show and the fans came out and showed some spirit by cheering and screaming their butts off!! Participants practiced and worked their hardest to  put on a fantastic show and that's what they displayed. We had judges coming from Palisades Elementary (Principal Tsue), the President of the Pearlridge Rotary Club (Mr. Mosko), and our very own principal (Principal Tanouye), but I bet choosing our winners was a struggle... Nonetheless, we really ought to thank very own our Assembly Committee for hosting and running this event with the help of Highlands Student Council. Finally, our top 3 winners for HIS Talent Show are none other than:

1st Place - Zyann

2nd Place - Mahina, Kansas, Chloe, Nicole Ryden

3rd Place - Garyann, Keviann, Kiumalyn

Overall we’d like to thank all our contestants for coming out and showcasing their talents. Mahalo nui,  Colts!!   Kaylani Gordon, 8th Grade Vice-President
