Service Fieldtrip: Hui Alaloa 2022

Hui: a group of people united in purpose, Alaloa: a sacred, sometimes spiritual path...Our Hui Alaloa Project brings together Hawaiian cultural practitioners, artists, schools, and residents visions for holistic greenspace. Visions for this demonstration project include community engaged art pieces, plantings that include native, medicinal and food species along a well traveled path along the Pu`uloa shoreline. As a community networking non-profit, Hui o Ho`ohonua is committed to supporting the community vision for this place with the help of a network of urban forestry professionals. A hui is a group of people united in purpose and an alaloa is an important or sacred path.  Jazmine, 8th Grade VP

PCHES Reading Buddies

Every Wednesday during Quarter 4, during study skills, Highlands Intermediate StuCo walked to Pearl City Highlands Elementary School to where each person read to 3 or 4 energetic kindergartens! We read books to the kids and did fun icebreakers and energizers! It was so much fun to read to the children to let them develop a love of reading. As quoted from Dr. Seuss, “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you'll go.” Jade, StuCo Historian
