The HIS Student Council sure is competitive! With the HIS Student Council's annual Christmas Bonding came many fun activities, one of which being a Gingerbread House Competition! Everybody got into teams of 6 and gathered the ingredients for making their houses. Such ingredients were graham crackers, frosting, assortments of candies, and lots of tin foil to make sure the room stayed relatively clean. Every team began with the same ingredients, an idea, and 15 minutes to build. Some teams went with winter wonderland-y houses, decorated with white frosting as snow and candy canes as gates. Meanwhile, others went with large constructions decorated with frosting and sprinkles decorating the exterior. After 15 minutes, Mr. White judged the houses one by one to decide who would be the winner of the contest. This competition allowed each team to have fun building houses and utilizing teamwork. StuCo Xmas Bonding Activities
Student Council has been working hard the entire year to bring awesome Student Activities to Highlands! To bring everyone’s spirits up we put together our annual Student Council Xmas Bonding Activities! On Friday, December 16, we got up early to start the day with our annual Secret Santa! Even though some of us knew who our Secret Santas were, it was still a shock when all of us got our presents and other surprises ;) From gift cards and junk food to tabletop foosball, some of us got carried away when wrapping our presents by wrapping it in 20 layers of wrapping paper! The following Monday, December 19th, we had again come to the StuCo Room to finishing the bonding with our annual Gingerbread House Challenge! Some of us aren't morning people, so after we had made our gingerbread houses, everyone had seemed to be in a more happy mood. You know, it might’ve had something to do with all that sugar we just ate ;) After today we definitely have enough energy to power us all the way through the upcoming “Yule Ball” and into a much deserved Winter Vacation… Thea, 8th Grade Secretary

StuCo Xmas Bonding Activities
Merry Christmas everyone!! Santa has presents for all who have been nice, not naughty... Everyone in student council gathered around the Highlands StuCo Christmas Tree unwrapping their presents from their Secret Santa. Laughter and cheers erupted all around the classroom as everyone opened their gifts and tried to figure out exactly who was their “Secret” Santa! The next Xmas activity our Spirit Committee Chairs planned was a Gingerbread House Challenge -- councils could choose from dozens of sweet treats from cereal to graham crackers to marshmallows to colorful frosting, and more candy you could ever dream of. This rather relaxing activity suddenly turned into a crazy mad house of laughter and screams!!! “Frosting, frosting EVERYWHERE!!!!!” said one council member in disbelief! One splatter of frosting and then the next -- everyone was covered with the stuff as a food fight erupted! We couldn’t think of a better was to “bond” than through the sweet, sticky and colorful frosting of Christmas!!! Michelle, Spirit Committee Co-Chair

Student Council Xmas Bonding Activities!
The entire Student Government Room was filled with laughter, screaming, and smiles at the start of the last week before our much-anticipated Christmas Break! Our annual Secret Santa gift exchange was the first item on the agenda, but not before several awesome gifts from our advisor, Mr. White. Then the gifts were exchanged and pandemonium ensued for several minutes as everyone yelled and screamed with joy and excitement! What followed was a lot of boasting and bravado and everyone eventually put their "game face" on for the annual "Gingerbread House Challenge!" After plans were drawn up (Thinking Map), it was CHAOS!!! Cereal, gummy worms, marshmallows, colorful candy, icing and sprinkles went flying everywhere! As the competition came to a close a food fight broke out (it's traditional, at this point ;) and everyone became a sweet, sticky holiday mess! Now, that's what I call a real "bonding" experience...
