Student Council has been working hard the entire year to bring awesome Student Activities to Highlands! To bring everyone’s spirits up we put together our annual Student Council Xmas Bonding Activities! On Friday, December 16, we got up early to start the day with our annual Secret Santa! Even though some of us knew who our Secret Santas were, it was still a shock when all of us got our presents and other surprises ;) From gift cards and junk food to tabletop foosball, some of us got carried away when wrapping our presents by wrapping it in 20 layers of wrapping paper! The following Monday, December 19th, we had again come to the StuCo Room to finishing the bonding with our annual Gingerbread House Challenge! Some of us aren't morning people, so after we had made our gingerbread houses, everyone had seemed to be in a more happy mood. You know, it might’ve had something to do with all that sugar we just ate ;) After today we definitely have enough energy to power us all the way through the upcoming “Yule Ball” and into a much deserved Winter Vacation… Thea, 8th Grade Secretary

Pearl City Elementary Winter Carnival
When you help someone do you have good giddy feeling inside? Well, that's exactly how the Highlands Student Council felt after we all walked down to Pearl City Highlands Elementary School to help run the games at their annual Winter Carnival. It was so heart-warming to see all the smiles and laughter of the little kids having fun at all of the different activities. There were games like "M&M Guess Contest," "Stack the Cups!," and "Frozen Fish Pond." What a great opportunity to participate in such a positive way to our great Pearl City ohana! The feedback we got was amazing and we certainly plan to do it all over again next year!

Unlike dances in the past, this year's winter dance brought the whole Highlands ohana together (sorry, no alternate activities this time) for one big party during the "most wonderful time of the year" -- Christmas time!!! In between the songs from DJ Krazy K, students were able to hang out outside and eat all the ono grinds and also hit the field for some of the best inflatable games around town, playing giant, oversized version of some awesome games like Skeeball, Football, Tennis, Baseball, and the Giant Ring Toss!!! Students got to win cool Christmas prizes and play some pretty unique games at the same time. Tribal Tattoos body art was also in effect and a big hit as evident by the longest lines reminiscent of a wait at Disneyland. A big shout out also goes out to the Dance Committee who made the dance come to life with the life-sized toys and presents decorations a la The Nutcracker. Together with an 11:15 AM dismissal, what a way it was to head into the three week holiday break...best year ever!
