Student Council Induction Ceremony 2024

To signal the end of this year and to welcome the next we hosted the annual Highlands Intermediate Student Council Induction Ceremony! This event was held in the Pa'ina room at Dave & Buster's Honolulu and included special guest speakers like Senator Brandon Elefante, State House Representative Corey Chun, Dr. Sandy Cameli, Hawai'i State Student Council Advisor Ms. Tiffany Frias, and Pearl City High School 11th Grade President Taryn Hodges! Parents and family were in attendance to see their sons and daughters win awards, participate in the candle lighting ceremony, and in the end, Student Council members bond with the final activity - the Arcade Challenge Team Builder. More importantly, this annual tradition celebrates our current Student Council by looking back at their hard work, dedication and accomplishments throughout this most amazing school year. Student Council Induction Ceremony 2023

After a long and challenging year, the Highlands Intermediate 2023 Induction Ceremony is finally here! This event may have been formal, but it was still a blast! This year’s ceremony was held in the Pa'ina Room at David Buster’s in Downtown Honolulu, once again, after 4 years since the pandemic! It was such a special day for both incoming and outgoing members, as their family members watched as they passed the torch of wisdom and experience down to the next generation of leaders! It was such an amazing experience being able to bond with one another throughout the event but especially the team builder activity in the arcade by playing games and working together to get the highest scores! Our special guests this year were, Senator Brandon Elefante, Dr. Sandy Cameli, and our very own alumnus, Student Government Treasurer 18-19 Keziah Tuazon! This event truly was memorable and marked the start for new beginnings and the many great things to come… Maria, Student Government President

Student Council Induction Ceremony 2022

After a full year of hard work, the 2021-2022 school year is coming to an end! Towards the end of every year, Student Council has an Induction Ceremony where current Student Council Members reflect back on what they have accomplished and incoming Student Council Members are inducted. Normally, this event would be held at Dave and Buster’s, but due to the global pandemic, it had to be held at a much smaller scale. The Student Council Induction Ceremony 2022 was held on May 16, 2022 in the Student Council Room and ran by Student Government. During this event, the current members pass the torch onto the incoming members and are properly inducted with a candle ceremony. The current Student Council Members had the chance to share their experiences and give some advice to the onboarding members. This event was a symbol of welcoming new beginnings and it was truly amazing! Isabella, Student Government President

Highlands Student Council Induction Ceremony 2017

Well, it's finally time to say goodbye to the old student council and welcome in the new...it was bittersweet to say the least! The Highlands StuCo Induction Ceremony took place on Saturday 4/22/17 at Dave & Buster’s in downtown Honolulu 5 weeks before the end of the 16-17 sy. Our special guest was City Councilman Brandon Elefante who had some insightful and encouraging words for both the current and incoming members in the audience. Later, we congratulated the current student council for an amazing job this year and then had a candle lighting ceremony where the new student council members agreed to a pledge, an oath of their new offices. After the official ceremony we planned on lightening things up with some team building activities...like the Ultimate D&B Scavenger Hunt. We got into 3 groups and intimidated each other with some group cheers to start off with. From getting signatures on a napkin to finding the year the venue opened, we all had fun so much fun! The Highlands StuCo Induction Ceremony was an amazing event never to be forgotten.  Kiley, Student Government Treasurer

NASC Induction Ceremony & Inaugural StuCo Epic Water Balloon Battle

What a memorable time it was...when the torch of the 2014-2015 Highlands Student Council was passed on to incoming StuCo members. On May 19, 2015, the current student council hosted a get together during lunch to share their past experiences and advice to the incoming student council. During lunch, the councils were paired  got to share a meal together while receiving speeches from the student activities coordinator, Mr. White, and the SG Secretary, Mica.  Brand new this year, we created a new segment we dubbed: "Inaugural StuCo Epic Water Balloon Battle!"  The title explains itself -- nuff said there.  Well, the torch has been passed and we wish the 2015-16 Highlands Student Council all the best in the upcoming school year.  Mireya, Assembly Committee
