Highlands Hunger Games 3: The Rebel Games

The Hunger Games returned to Highlands for the third year in a row on November 25, 2015!!!  But, this year we changed the Hunger Games to make it one of the absolute BEST events Highlands has ever had.  This year, we combined the Star Wars and Hunger Games worlds to create one event to be known as “Highlands Hunger Games 3: The Rebel Games”!!!  We kicked off the Games this year with awesome performances by Princeton, Shaylana, and the HIS Cheerleaders!!!  Right after that, came the Parade of Tributes with the anxious Tributes hyping up the crowd before their competition.  In this year’s Hunger Games, there were 5 rounds as well as a special teacher round!!!  In these rounds, the Tributes needed to use their speed, strategy, and agility to be the last man standing after 5 minutes of intense competition.  They could choose to use crossbows, grenades, or the newest edition... lightsabers!!!  In addition to winning each round, Tributes could also earn Spirit Points by securing Parachutes sent in by sponsors throughout the Games!!!  After an awesome event, only one team could prevail and that team was...TEAM HUI MANA’O!!!  Better luck to all the other teams next year at Highlands Hunger Games 4!!!  Cade, SG President

Welcome Back Assembly 2015 "May The Force Be With You"

Did you watch Star Wars when you were younger?  Well, what if I told you that Star Wars came to life at this year’s Welcome Back Assembly 2015 "May The Force Be With You"?!?  You probably wouldn’t believe me, but if you were there, you would understand what I’m talking about!  This year, the Highlands Intermediate Student Council transformed the gym into none other than the Star Wars Universe.  Giant lightsabers were on display, as well as a massive Death Star space battle scene straight out of the movies!  The crowd was really pumped up and loved the two performances, one by Diverse Art Dance Studio and the other by Frank DeLima!  Just when you thought it was over, each team went insane during the Team Cheer Competition where Na Koa (Ewoks) proved to be the loudest!!!  As DJ Packo slammed sick beats, the Jedis from each Team mastered their skills in the Jedi Training Academy with our very own Obi Wan Kenobi, Mr. Ogata!!!  With balloons flying everywhere and the Jedis swinging their lightsabers every which way, the crowd went wild over seven over-the-top challenges!!!  Honestly, this event was probably the best one that the Student Council has ever put together.  With that being the case, we can't wait to see what's in store for us the rest of the year.  We can only hop that "the Force be with us!"  Cade, SG President
