Highlands Spirit Competition Winner 2020 - Team Hui Mana'o!!!

The Highlands Intermediate Spirit Competition started way back in August of 2019 with several games at the Welcome Back Assembly. Then, each team earned tons of points based on their performances at Spirit Week 2019, all the intramurals, door contests, all the dances, all the Halloween activities, all the costume contests, Highlands Hunger Games 7: “This Ain’t No Fairytale!”, and on and on... The team that won accumulated 3,439 spirit points over tons of activities all year long! They did not relent, they stayed together as a team the whole year and competed in every event with maximum skill and enthusiasm. And that team is none other than... Team Hui Mana’o!!!! Big props to Team Hui Mana’o for taking the Highlands Spirit Cup back to your team! You took over 1st place on the very last activity of the school year: Q3 Intramural Soccer when you won the Championship!  As a result, Team Hui Mana’o edged Team Laulima by just 26 spirit points - wow!!!  So close!  Congratulations once again to Team Hui Mana’o - Highlands Intermediate Spirit Competition Winners!!! You’ll be able to choose first in the upcoming Team Character Draft for the upcoming 2020 - 2021 sy! We have to ask you - what team will it be next year?!? What team will win the Highlands Intermediate Spirit Cup 2020 - 2021? What team will harness eternal glory and bask in it’s goodness? We can’t wait to find out…

"The Wizarding World of Harry Potter" Is Taking Over Highlands Intermediate 16-17 sy!

Listen up, Muggles --"The Wizarding World of Harry Potter" is taking over Highlands Intermediate for the 2016-17 sy! For one year only, Highlands will magically transform into Hogwarts school of Magic, teachers turn into professors, and 7th & 8th Graders will now be known as 1st years' and 2nd years', respectively. Each team got to choose their HP Identities based on their finish in last year's Spirit Competition (see below).  Look for tons of HP themed events starting with the Welcome Back Assembly 2016, Spirit Week 2016 (5 days of dress up and activities) ending in this year’s Fall Dance 2016, a HP themed glow in the dark, black light experience!  And that’s just Q1!  In Q2 look for HP-themed Halloween activities, a Highlands first -- after we play Highlands Hunger Games 4 -- we’ll play our first ever Quidditch Cup! We’ll end Q2 with the Winter Dance "Yule Ball" -- a perfect way to the end the quarter, the semester and into Winter Break. And at the end of the year, after all Spirit Points are tallied Professor Dumbledore will award the Highlands Tri-Wizard Cup to the most spirit team.  Who will it be this year?  Just do us a favor -- no Unforgivable Curses, okay?!?

Highlands Hunger Games 3: The Rebel Games

The Hunger Games returned to Highlands for the third year in a row on November 25, 2015!!!  But, this year we changed the Hunger Games to make it one of the absolute BEST events Highlands has ever had.  This year, we combined the Star Wars and Hunger Games worlds to create one event to be known as “Highlands Hunger Games 3: The Rebel Games”!!!  We kicked off the Games this year with awesome performances by Princeton, Shaylana, and the HIS Cheerleaders!!!  Right after that, came the Parade of Tributes with the anxious Tributes hyping up the crowd before their competition.  In this year’s Hunger Games, there were 5 rounds as well as a special teacher round!!!  In these rounds, the Tributes needed to use their speed, strategy, and agility to be the last man standing after 5 minutes of intense competition.  They could choose to use crossbows, grenades, or the newest edition... lightsabers!!!  In addition to winning each round, Tributes could also earn Spirit Points by securing Parachutes sent in by sponsors throughout the Games!!!  After an awesome event, only one team could prevail and that team was...TEAM HUI MANA’O!!!  Better luck to all the other teams next year at Highlands Hunger Games 4!!!  Cade, SG President
