Student Council Bonding @ Haunted Plantation 2024

It’s the spooky season so you know what that means… it’s Haunted House time! The Highlands Student Council made some time during Fall Break to make the pilgrimage to Haunted Plantation and boy oh boy was it scary!! Everyone had the BEST time and it was such a wonderful and terrible experience at the same time ;) Just look at our faces hahahaha! We came here not only to have fun but to get a better idea of what a professional haunted house looks like (since we were in the process of building our own back at Highlands). We saw and heard so many amazing actors, visuals, sounds and special effects. The top notch actors made the whole experience fun and exciting for all and we can’t wait to go back again next year! Student Council Halloween Bonding 2022: Haunted Plantation

During the most haunted month of the year, the Highlands Student Council went on a rather spooky and scary adventure to the one and only Hawaii’s Haunted Plantation! It was a night full of scares, screams, and loads of jumpscares! Everyone who entered the event made it out with a sore throat and trembling fingers! This was a great opportunity to bond with one another and to have also have an amazingly scary good time! The main reason Mr. White had us go on this crazy adventure was to not only just bond with our peers but to also learn from the best of the best. That's right, he wanted us to learn about what makes the Haunted Plantation so good and apply that knowledge and experience to our very own Highlands Haunted House 10 "The Escape From Azkaban!" That field trip was probably the reason this year's haunt was the huge success it was. Overall, the Haunted Plantation and HHH10 were both two experiences that I will never, ever forget :) Josh, 7th Grade Council

StuCo Bonding - Halloween 2019

On Sunday on 10/20/19 the Highlands Student Council went on a spooky adventure to the infamous Haunted Plantation! It was a night full of scares, creeps, and even some crawlies! We had a great adventure going from building to building and room to room with scares and creepy jumps coming from every direction -- even the roof!!! Haunted Plantation was quite an adventure we had and a great time getting scared, bonding with each other, and learning from the pros! A few days later Mr. White hosted our very own Scare School 2019 on Tuesday 10/22/19 to help us prepare for our very own haunted house starting up the following week! Mr. White gave us the overview of Highlands Haunted House 8: “The Haunted Mansion”, the history, and a detailed description of each of the rooms. Next we learned about the different roles we’ll be taking up in running this year’s haunt as actors, special effects crew and guides. After that we were able to get our costumes and we were so excited to try them on!!!  Lastly, Mr. White gave us a mini tour of the haunt as a small preview of where each person will be and what the triggers were for each action! It was a very informative day especially that’ll help us scare throughout the weeks! To sum up about these two days, I can say it was a fun experience and an amazing time learning our jobs and experiencing the scares hands on so that we’ll be able to pass it on to our guests! StuCo Bonding: Scare School! at Haunted Plantation

The way we started planning for this year’s year’s Highlands Haunted House 7 was by participating in Mr. White’s “Scare School!” a full month before the haunt.  Mr. White gave us the Highlands Haunt Employee Handbook that went over the game plan for this year’s haunt and also how to scare people in a haunt. He really emphasized professionalism and we will be actual employees working shifts ;) Afterward, we had the pleasure to visit Hawaii’s most scariest and successful haunt of them all -- Haunted Plantation -- and met up with owners Noah and Angelina. They took us through the historic plantation village, showing us each house that had real paranormal activity that affected them and their workers throughout the years! The scariest story had to be that one of their actors were choked in house where a ghostly lady shows herself through the front window -- only thing is she didn’t have a face!!! The tour ended when Noa and Angelina showed us some of the Hollywood style masks that they had made themselves. They explained the process on how to make the masks and even let some of us try them on!  Brittany, Assembly Committee
