Intramural "May Madness" Basketball 2026

This year's Intramural Basketball at Highlands Intermediate School was nothing short of spectacular! The courts were abuzz with excitement as seven talented teams went head-to-head in an intense, energetic showdown that kept everyone on the edge of their seats. From the first whistle, it was clear that this tournament would be filled with fierce competition and incredible sportsmanship. Players showcased their skills, teamwork, and determination, making every game a thrilling display of talent and passion. The atmosphere was heated, with cheers echoing across the courts and spectators passionately supporting their favorite teams. After days of fierce battles, one name rose above the rest—Koa Kau Lio. Their perseverance, teamwork, and skill led them to victory in this exciting tournament. Congratulations to Koa Kau Lio for their well-deserved win and for demonstrating true sportsmanship throughout the competition. Thank you to all the players, coaches, and supporters who made Intramural Basketball 2026 an unforgettable event. Intramural Soccer 2026

Highlands Intermediate Colts grabbed their squads, laced up their cleats, and hit the field for an action-packed week of intramural soccer! From March 2nd through March 6th, teams went head-to-head during homeroom to see who would claim the ultimate trophy this year. The sidelines were packed with students cheering on their classmates as the tournament brought high-energy competition to the school field. The tournament matches delivered intense action across both grade levels. For the 7th graders, two standout teams pushed their way to the top, with Laulima and Hui Haaheo taking home the final championship honors. In the 8th-grade bracket, team Laulea dominated the pitch to secure their well-earned victory as the grade-level champions. The week wrapped up with an absolute blast: the highly anticipated Teachers vs. Students All-Star game. The competition was incredibly fierce and exciting, drawing out the entire student body to support and roar from the sidelines. Q2 Intramural: Volleyball 2025

The courts were alive this week as our Volleyball Intramurals took center stage. Between the rhythmic pulse of the music and the roar of the crowd, the energy was undeniable. Our teams displayed incredible athleticism and heart, leaving everything on the floor in a series of thrilling sets. Beyond the competition, it was the sense of community that truly shone. Whether it was a perfectly timed block or a desperate dive to keep the ball alive, teammates and friends were there to lift each other up. Congratulations to our 2026 Winners: We are proud to recognize Koa Kau Lio for taking home 1st place, followed by Kupono in 2nd, and Laulea in 3rd. Q1 Intramural: Capture the Flag! 2025

The Highlands Q1 Intramural: Capture the Flag 2025 brought excitement and competition as all seven teams faced off against one another in a series of intense games. The intramural included three 8th grade teams and four 7th grade teams, with students showing teamwork, strategy, and school spirit throughout the event. Players worked together to protect their flags while trying to capture the opposing team’s flag, creating fast-paced and competitive matches that kept everyone engaged. After a series of hard-fought battles, Team Alaka'i emerged as the 7th Grade Champions, while Team Kupono claimed the title of 8th Grade Champions. Notably, both powerhouse teams dominant throughout the tournament, finishing their championship runs completely undefeated. Throughout the intramural, students cheered on their teammates and gave their best effort during every round. The games encouraged communication, leadership, and teamwork while also giving students the opportunity to have fun and connect with others outside of the classroom. Intramural Volleyball 2025

The final intramural of the year was Q4 Intramural Volleyball 2025 and the action was intense as it was exciting! Every team brought their A game and the competition was way more exciting than was expected. There were some epic rallies, jaw dropping digs and serious slams! The energy on the court was insane—cheers, high-fives, and last-minute saves everywhere.... There were so many club volleyball players out on the courts, Mr. White called it the best ever intramural volleyball he’s ever witnessed in all his years at Highlands ;) Not only that but everyon played their hearts out. Big, big shout out goes to Q4 Intramural Volleyball 2025 Champions, Team Koa Kau Lio!!! We can’t wait to do it again next year!  Tegan Shadwick, Student Government President
