Intramural "May Madness" Basketball 2026

This year's Intramural Basketball at Highlands Intermediate School was nothing short of spectacular! The courts were abuzz with excitement as seven talented teams went head-to-head in an intense, energetic showdown that kept everyone on the edge of their seats. From the first whistle, it was clear that this tournament would be filled with fierce competition and incredible sportsmanship. Players showcased their skills, teamwork, and determination, making every game a thrilling display of talent and passion. The atmosphere was heated, with cheers echoing across the courts and spectators passionately supporting their favorite teams. After days of fierce battles, one name rose above the rest—Koa Kau Lio. Their perseverance, teamwork, and skill led them to victory in this exciting tournament. Congratulations to Koa Kau Lio for their well-deserved win and for demonstrating true sportsmanship throughout the competition. Thank you to all the players, coaches, and supporters who made Intramural Basketball 2026 an unforgettable event. Intramural “May Madness” Basketball 2023

Dribble. Dribble. Cross over. Jump shot... "Oh wow! They just made a bucket!”  This event, Intramural Basketball “May Madness” 2023 was one of the most awesome and exciting games to host! This last intramural of this school year was such a fun event to end the school year on. Many players played their very best until the absolute end in order to be the champions and to receive all the glory of every game! Every game was filled with cheering and excitement of  big crowds!  The motivation from each team’s coaches and the applauding of fans and teammates propelled every player to play their absolute best! These action packed games were filled with wins and losses, happiness and defeat. But most importantly, in the end, all of these tournaments were always filled with amazing teamwork, and even better sportsmanship :). Sienna, 7th Grade Council

Slam DUNK! Please welcome the Highlands Intermediate Basketball Players, our soon-to-be NBA stars! Played in the gym during May, “May Madness Basketball” was a hit! The gym was booming with yelling, cheering, music, and, of course, the excitement of different teams fighting for victory! It was the first time we used the gym all year, and the new experience was electric for every student! In fact, this may have been one of the most hype activities yet! Cheers were deafening, echoing across the gym, and students even made banners and signs to show their support for their team! Plus, our teacher coaches and personnel did an excellent job of keeping the game running smoothly. It was a great experience for all to show team spirit and enjoy their final months at Highlands Intermediate. Throughout the week, close scores and the sound of cleats across the gym floor filled up the lunch of many students= the energy was exhilarating! And on the final day, after scorching competition, 7th grade team Hui Haa’heo and 8th grade team Laulea came out on top, marking their place in Highlands history!  Kaysen, Athletics Committee Chair

Q4 Intramural: May Madness Team Basketball

We've saved the best for last -- the final intramural of the year in the biggest of the year!  Q4 May Madness Team Basketball brought the biggest crowds and the biggest excitement at the end of the school year!!!  All the teams gave it their all and the champions were Ku I Ka Pono for the 7th Grade and Hui Mana'o for the 8th Grade.  The championship game featured these two teams and there could only be 1 school champion...and it was Hui Mana'o who parlayed a strong performance to become this year's 2016 Q4 Intramural Basketball Champions -- congratulations to 2x intramural winners this year, Hui Mana'o!!!
