Video Game Challenge 2: Mario Kart

The crowd went wild as the karts sped past the finish line! Just like the Super Smash Bros. Tournament in the first quarter, the air was electric in the Student Council Room during Lunch as everyone was cheering for their friends or their team members!!! This is what it was like at our Video Game Challenge 2: Mario Kart.... From March 4 - 20,  16 Mario Kart contestants from each team raced competitively in the Quarterfinals and Final Round in order to make it to the Championship Round to become their Team Mario Kart Champion!  All 7 Team Mario Kart Champions met on the final day for one epic racing tournament for the ages!  In the end, it was Evan from Team Hui Mana’o who came away victorious as the School Mario Kart Champion for 2020!  Congrats to Evan and the Teacher Mario Kart Champion, Ms. Moore from Team Hui Ha’aheo!!!  Ryder & Justin, StuCo Historians

Video Game Challenge 1: Super Smash Bros.

A critical smash attack! Bowser was sent flying toward the corner of the playing field. Mario came running in Bowser's direction and charges up his forward air attack. He lands a critical hit and spikes Bowser off and into the mysterious abyss and oblivion!!! This is a basic description of what was at the Video Game Challenge 1: Super Smash Bros. This tournament was 7 days of fun and action in which every team to participated in. There were 7 preliminary rounds, 1 for each team here at Highlands, that acted like entry tickets to the Champions Round on the last day. If you beat the other participants on your team you would gain the title of ________ Team Champion.  All 7 Team Champions played on the final day to see who would become School Super Smash Champion! To paint a picture for you imagine being in a semi dark classroom. It was great to see all the cheering fans and great game play over the 8 days in the StuCo Room!  After 8 straight days of Super Smash Bros., our School Champion was none other than Kaimi from Team Laule’a... The Video Game Challenge 1 was a unique and entertaining way for so many students and teachers to bond by doing what they love.... smashing each other lol!  Ryder, StuCo Historian
