Highlands Talent Showcase 2017

Do you have talent? Of course you do! All that talent was on full display at this year’s Highlands Talent Show 2017! In the end, The Reflections won it all and are going to Brown Bags to Stardom to represent HIghlands Intermediate in the “Musical Group” category . The Reflections performed the mega hit “7 Years” by Lukas Graham making it unique with their own local take on it . There were also wonderful performances throughout the Talent Show.... Taking 2nd place was a Highlands first -- a lip sync battle performance by The Misfits to “The Internet is Here/Stressed Out.”  The Misfits will be competing in the “Variety Act” category in this year’s BBTS as well!  All performers were all well prepared and gave it their all during the show -- the whole school loved it! We even had special guest judges and performances by  Highlands alumni, Brandon Ron, his friend Blue who came in all the way from California, and Brown Bags to Stardom executive producer Johnny Kai! If you enjoyed the performances, be sure to catch Brown Bags to Stardom on OC16 on May 13 and cheer Highlands on to victory! Steph, Assembly Committee Co-Chair

Highlands Talent Showcase 2015

Wow -- you would have never expected such a variety of acts at an Intermediate Talent Show!  We had singers, dancers, musicians, and even martial artists!  Our judges this year were Johnny Kai from Brown Bags to Stardom state talent show, James Donnelly from the Maka a Wish Foundation, and Brandon Ron and Ian Navasca from The Playground Dance Studio.  It was shock and surprise to everyone in the crowd when it was revealed that Brandon and Ian were two Highlands alumni who won the very first Highlands Best Dance Crew competition here eight years ago!  Back then they were known as the Lockdown Crew and they surprised everyone with a mind-blowing dance routine our gym floor has never seen the likes of!  The crowd went wild and we also announced the results of the Amazing Penny Race 2015 and presented a check to the Make a Wish Foundation Hawaii in the amount of $1,343.49!!!  Now, what you've all been waiting for... the winners of the Highlands Talent Show 2015....
3rd Place -- Le'o Malosi (Samoana, Vinarie, Maria, Victoria, Seini, Rita, Deneice, and Jerilyn)
2nd Place -- Undefined (Michael, Justice, and Jeiley)
1st Place -- The Karate Kids (Addison, Shane, and Seth)
These three amazing groups will represent Highlands Intermediate at the Brown Bags to Stardom 2015 competition on April 25th @ Blaisdell Center.  We'd like to point out that EVERY act that performed had the entire crowd cheering and amazed by there schoolmates' skill and talent!  Let's look forward to seeing a recap of the Highlands Talent Showcase 2015 on OC16 sometime in April -- stay tuned!  Mireya -- Assembly Committee Chairperson
