Service Project: Thanksgiving 2019

“La la la la la la”... Oh, those were the beautiful sounds of music and singing while helping out our community! When the Highlands Student Council arrived at the Pearl City Community Church some of us didn’t know what to expect or what was exactly about to happen. It was a rush of nervousness, curiosity, and excitement! As we found out, our jobs were to be food servers, beverage servers, and greeters & seaters. In the middle of this Thanksgiving Lunch sponsored by Ko Olina Resorts, everyone was entertained by the community band and also our very own Mr. White and HIS Student Council students with a special set of early Christmas tunes everyone could sing along with. What a great way to help those less fortunate during this time of reflection and gratitude!  Zoe, Spirit Committee

 

Thanksgiving Service Project -- Ko Olina Thanksgiving Outreach 2018

Bock.. Bock… Bock.. BOCKKK! It’s that time of year again -- Thanksgiving ! It’s a time for many things, especially of giving back to those in need ;) The Highlands Student Council joyously celebrated the Thanksgiving spirit at the Pearl City Community Church on the morning of Saturday, November 17, 2018. It was a fun and heartfelt day! We served delicious Thanksgiving meals and gave out everyday items to those less fortunate than us. Not only we did we bonded amongst ourselves but we also got to make new friends and bonded with them as well. It truly was a joy to see so many smiles on everyone’s faces that day. This service project will never be forgotten! Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving like we did ;)  Keziah , SG Treasurer

Service Project - Ko Olina Thanksgiving Outreach

It's the season of giving and what's better than giving to those less fortunate. That's exactly what the Highlands Student Council did on November 19th at the Pearl City Community Church. All day StuCo students served a wonderful Thanksgiving meal and made lots of friends with everyone there. We socialized, served, and seated everyone. The Ko Olina Thanksgiving Outreach was a great way to reach out to the community and participate in such a worthy cause. Big mahalos to the members of the P.C. Community Church for hosting the event and Ko Olina Resorts for the yummy Thanksgiving meals!  Kiley, SG Treasurer

Ko Olina Thanksgiving Outreach 2016

On Saturday, November 21st, the Highlands Student Council went down the street to the Ko Olina Thanksgiving Outreach at Pearl City Community Church.  This annual service project is important to us as we are able to help those less fortunate than us enjoy a proper Thanksgiving meal courtesy of Ko Olina Resorts. It was our job to bring some spirit to the event through cheers and energizers, help serve the meals, and talk story with everyone afterward. This heartwarming experience will no doubt stick with all of us through this special time of year. It was a very moving experience for everyone involved and we're so glad we could participate again this year. Isabella, 7th Grade Council - Palisades Elem.

Ko 'Olina Thanksgiving Outreach

The Ko Olina Thanksgiving Outreach was special in many ways not only for the Highlands Student Council, but also for the elderly, children, and awesome families that showed up at this amazing annual event!  This event was truly meaningful bonding experience for all that were present and we were all rewarded with a yummy early Thanksgiving meal from event sponsor, Ko Olina Resort!  The Highlands Student Council helped with greeting all the guest as they arrived, with games, and more importantly they got to sit down, talk story, and really get to know all the special guests before the food was served.  As the mingling and entertainment would down, the Student Council kids got to serve all of our special guests a meal they wouldn't forget.  It was with heavy heart that we said our goodbyes and we'll see each other again next year...
