Welcome Back To School 2024

Anxious about scheduled classes, scared to talk to new people, and intimidated by high expectations? These are emotions millions of students feel when coming back to school each and every year. To help everyone out, the Highlands Student Council was out front on Ho'olaule'a Street welcoming everyone to an awesome new year with cheers, posters, and upbeat music helping everyone make what most people thought was going to be an uneventful first day, just a little more memorable. We then were able to get them all hyped up for their first big activity, 7th Grade Orientation that continued with several activities throughout the rest of the school day. This is where they were able to learn about the staff around campus, the rules and exceptions of being a colt here at Highlands, while also getting familiar with their new campus. Now, buckle up and get ready to dive into the adventure of being a Colt here at Highlands Intermediate for the 2024-2025 school year!  Isabelle Rose Mina Student Government Treasurer

Welcome Back to School 2023

Now that Summer is over, it’s time to start fresh with a new school year. Highlands Intermediate 2023 - 2024 school year is officially here! Loads of new students and teachers joined the Highlands 'ohana this year and it kicked off on Monday - August 7th! The Highlands Student Council welcomed them with cheers on the roadside as the entered. Once the bell rang, all 7th Grade students anxiously walked down to the Cafeteria and had their very first assembly, an orientation to get them acclimated to their new school, teams, teachers, and staff members. After an eventful day, the 7th Graders' first day quickly came to an end. The following day, the 8th Graders reported for the first time and they were full of energy! PCHES Reading Buddies 2023

It’s been 4 long years but we’re baaaaaaaack… The Highlands Intermediate Student Council made plans to visit Pearl City Highlands Elementary 2nd Graders every Friday to read books and play energizers and icebreaker activities. They had so much fun with their little buddies each and every week! After seven weeks they topped it off with one final celebration ;) There were so many gifts, hugs and lifelong memories exchanged that we can’t wait until the next Reading Buddies!!! PCHES Reading Buddies 2023

The Highlands Student Council was able to revive a collaboration with our neighbor elementary school, Pearl City Highlands Elementary, after 3 long years of COVID lockdown.  Our "big buddies" made lesson plans every Friday to read books and play games with the PCHES 2nd Graders. Student Council had so much fun with their little buddies every single week and it got harder to say goodbye to them every time we went....  Sophia, 8th Grade Secretary

Welcome Back to School 2022!

Welcome Back, Colts! “Back to School 2022” was fun-filled as it was exciting for all: incoming students, current students, teachers and staff! Student Council members welcomed all the students with cheers, and everybody was happy to see their friends and teachers after the very long summer break ;) Most importantly, our incoming 7th Graders had a great opportunity to learn about their new school as the day started with the 7th Grade Orientation in the Cafeteria.  Later on they got to tour the campus, meet the staff and eventually check out their new classes and teacher for the very first time.
