PCHES Reading Buddies 2023
It’s been 4 long years but we’re baaaaaaaack… The Highlands Intermediate Student Council made plans to visit Pearl City Highlands Elementary 2nd Graders every Friday to read books and play energizers and icebreaker activities. They had so much fun with their little buddies each and every week! After seven weeks they topped it off with one final celebration ;) There were so many gifts, hugs and lifelong memories exchanged that we can’t wait until the next Reading Buddies!!! 6th Grade Orientation 2017
The 6th Grade Orientation was a great experience for the Class of 2024! All 8 Pearl City Elementary schools got a taste of what it’ll be like next year for them as Middle Schoolers -- as full-fledged 7th Graders. As a 7th Grader, they’ll be choosing an Elective Class for the first time so all 7th Grade Electives -- band, PE/Health, Chorus, Ukulele -- put on a show to try and persuade them to take their classes! The best part of the day might actually have been the Campus Tour which followed the Elective performances. Small groups lead by our very own Highlands experts showed them every part of campus and what to expect as a 7th Grader. The Orientation ended with the annual Q&A session hosted by the Highlands Student Council. After the Orientation, we believe the 6th graders finally felt a little comfortable in a place where they soon will call home for the next two important years of their lives. 6th Grade Orientation
“Hey, hey you! Welcome to the H.I.S!” was ringing out in the hallways of the Cafeteria as we welcomed all the 6th graders to Highlands Intermediate! In just a few short months they make Highlands their new home and the transition into a Highlands Colt will be complete! The 6th Graders from the 8 Pearl City elementary feeder schools got to have a tour around the campus and look at the wide variety of classes in session. Along with a Q&A with the Highlands Student Council they got some awesome pointers of being successful in the next school year. In addition, the students got an introduction to the different teachers and also all the great electives that we have to offer them as 7th graders. We can’t wait for next year...it can’t come soon enough ;) Josiah, Spirit Committee Co-Chair

6th Grade Orientation
Well it's that time of year and we are halfway through the quarter already! Now it's time to introduce the 6th graders to new school next year, Highlands Intermediate . 7th Grade Orientation took place over 2 days for the 8 Highlands feeder schools . They eager and excited students got to learn about our different classes, took a tour around the school campus, and got to learn about the fun student activities that Highlands has to offer! They even got to ask questions to our own Student Council and teachers during the final Q&A segment. We can’t wait to see all these upcoming 7th graders on our first day back of the 2016-2017 school year! Laura, Dance Committee Chair

Pearl City Elementary Winter Carnival
When you help someone do you have good giddy feeling inside? Well, that's exactly how the Highlands Student Council felt after we all walked down to Pearl City Highlands Elementary School to help run the games at their annual Winter Carnival. It was so heart-warming to see all the smiles and laughter of the little kids having fun at all of the different activities. There were games like "M&M Guess Contest," "Stack the Cups!," and "Frozen Fish Pond." What a great opportunity to participate in such a positive way to our great Pearl City ohana! The feedback we got was amazing and we certainly plan to do it all over again next year!

6th Grade Orientation
Role call! Manana...Pearl City...Kanoelani...Lehua...Palisades...Waiau...Pearl City Highlands...Momilani! Nearly 500 incoming 7th graders poured into Highlands Intermediate over 2 days for the annual 6th Grade Orientation. We welcomed them amazing performances from our very own Highlands Symphonic Band, Ukulele Class, Highlands Chorus! The highlight of the event was the ever-popular campus tour where students got a real taste of real Highlands life: the buildings, the teachers, the staff members, and especially the hills (yes, get used to the hike ;). The 6th Graders fears and apprehensions were assuaged with the last segment of the Orientation -- the Q&A headed up by our very own Highlands Student Council. After this experience, we have no doubt the class of 2022 will be absolutely prepared for their first day of school as a Highlands Intermediate Colt next school year!
