6th Grade Orientation 2023

As the year comes to an end, that means it’s time for 6th Grade Orientation!  This is the day where some of our 8th Grader leaders are asked to give the incoming 7th Graders (currently 6th Grade) a tour of the school with lots of helpful information to help them next school year. Our guests were amazing and they made sure to ask lots of questions all through the day. We wanted this orientation to help our incoming students get a good feel for the school and to also be comfortable with their new “home.”  Aeveen Zee Patricio, Assembly Committee

6th Grade Orientation 2022

At the 6th Grade Orientation 2022, 6th graders from 8 different elementary schools in the Pearl City District were given a warm welcome to Highlands Intermediate! This annual event took place over 2 days. Our guests were given a taste of what the middle school experience is truly like. They were given live performances, announcements, and videos from our elective students and teachers. Those electives include Arts and Crafts, Band, Chorus, Media, STEM, and Ukulele. The day continued with a tour around campus from our expert guides - us ;).  Lastly, we hosted a Q&A session headed up by the Highlands Student Council. Our incoming 7th graders had so many amazing questions!  After this event, we have no doubt that this fun and meaningful experiencewill help the Class of 2029 throughout their entire middle school journey!  Rica Marie, SG Vice-President

6th Grade Orientation 2019

At 6th Grade Orientation 2019 we had a total of 8 elementary schools come to Highlands to learn more about their first year in middle school!  We started the day by having our performing arts electives like Symphonic Band, Chorus, and Ukulele perform some of their recent hits. We then split the visiting schools up into small groups with an official Highlands tour guide (us!) for the campus tour. Lastly, we ended the 6th Grade Orientation with a Q&A session with our very own Highlands Student Council. They had some really good questions and we in turn gave them great feedback and advice. Unfortunately, 6th Grade Orientation came to an end but I can tell you it was a really great event and we just know the Class of 2026 are gonna do an amazing job when they finally get here next year!  Kierynn, 8th Grade Treasurer

6th Grade Orientation

“Hey, hey you! Welcome to the H.I.S!” was ringing out in the hallways of the Cafeteria as we welcomed all the 6th graders to Highlands Intermediate! In just a few short months they make Highlands their new home and the transition into a Highlands Colt will be complete! The 6th Graders from the 8 Pearl City elementary feeder schools got to have a tour around the campus and look at the wide variety of classes in session. Along with a Q&A with the Highlands Student Council they got some awesome pointers of being successful in the next school year. In addition, the students got an introduction to the different teachers and also all the great electives that we have to offer them as 7th graders.  We can’t wait for next year...it can’t come soon enough ;)  Josiah, Spirit Committee Co-Chair

Well it's that time of year and we are halfway through the quarter already! Now it's time to introduce the 6th graders to new school next year, Highlands Intermediate .  7th Grade Orientation took place over 2 days for the 8 Highlands feeder schools . They eager and excited students got to learn about our different classes, took a tour around the school campus, and got to learn about the fun student activities that Highlands has to offer! They even got to ask questions to our own Student Council and teachers during the final Q&A segment. We can’t wait to see all these upcoming 7th graders on our first day back of the 2016-2017 school year!  Laura, Dance Committee Chair

6th Grade Orientation

Role call!  Manana...Pearl City...Kanoelani...Lehua...Palisades...Waiau...Pearl City Highlands...Momilani!  Nearly 500 incoming 7th graders poured into Highlands Intermediate over 2 days for the annual 6th Grade Orientation.  We welcomed them amazing performances from our very own Highlands Symphonic Band, Ukulele Class, Highlands Chorus!  The highlight of the event was the ever-popular campus tour where students got a real taste of real Highlands life: the buildings, the teachers, the staff members, and especially the hills (yes, get used to the hike ;).  The 6th Graders fears and apprehensions were assuaged with the last segment of the Orientation -- the Q&A headed up by our very own Highlands Student Council.  After this experience, we have no doubt the class of 2022 will be absolutely prepared for their first day of school as a Highlands Intermediate Colt next school year!
