Staffulty Christmas Teacher Appreciation Breakfast 2022
Christmas spirit is in the air along with a deep appreciation for our teachers and staff this holiday season! We wanted to show our excellent staffulty how greatly appreciated and thankful we are for all of the hard work they put in to make our school great! Big thanks goes out to our wonderful sponsors - McDonalds and Starbucks of Pearl City - for the plentiful and delicious pancakes, sausages, coffee, fruit, and more that were laid out for all on a chilly morning on December 9th. As the teachers entered the Cafeteria, they were greeted with a magical visit from our very own student Santa at the Christmas Photo Booth along with Christmas themed games, such as spin the wheel, and other small activities and prizes. Everyone absolutely enjoyed the complimentary breakfast and used the event to socialize with one another. As teachers ate, students provided entertainment such as playing the piano and singing Christmas Carols. It’s safe to say that teachers and staff felt greatly appreciated and happy after our memorable Christmas Staffulty Appreciation Breakfast 2022! Maria, Student Government President

Teacher Appreciation Week 2020 Is Coming Up Next Week!
At Highlands, we appreciate our teachers! So, during quarantine and from the comfort of our own homes, the Student Council planned a series of events for Virtual Teacher Appreciation Week 2020! To show our appreciation, we all pitched in to make a very heartwarming video dedicated to the teachers of Highlands Intermediate that made its debut on May 4th. Then we all wrote appreciation and thank you letters to all of the teachers expressing our gratitude towards them and even reminisced on some of the very special memories we made with them during our time at Highlands. Our teachers have been by our side guiding us through the ups and downs of middle school and we wanted to properly thank them for all that they've done for us. Teachers are the people who help us blossom as students into intelligent and outstanding human beings out of the kindness of their hearts. H.I.S has brought us so many great adventures and memories that we will always remember. Go Colts! And thank you teachers! Abby, 8th Grade President

Christmas Teacher Appreciation Breakfast 2019
Dancing Christmas Trees and Christmas Carolers entertained the teachers as they were treated to breakfast on Friday 12/13/19 @ Cafeteria. As Christmas approached Student Council planned an activity to celebrate our awesome teachers & staff and show them how much we appreciate them. What better way to do it than with a Christmas breakfast hosted by our very own Pearl City Starbucks and iHop!!! At 7:20 am teachers lined up down the Cafeteria Lanai in order to get into Santa's Workshop... The tables were filled with pancakes, coffee, eggs, and all kinds of sweet treats. Ryder and Teya sang Christmas carols for all the teachers eating. We also had students dance on the stage wearing christmas outfits and mingling with our very special guests. Then, as a special surprise we had a surprise visit by none other than the big man himself - Santa Claus! This breakfast was so memorable and great way to thank all of our teachers & staff members for the amazing job at HIS: "The Most Magical School on Earth!" Merry Christmas, all... Xmas Teacher Appreciation: Coffee & Cocoa Bar!
What's the best way to give back to our teachers while spreading the holiday spirit? Why, a Xmas Coffee and Hot Cocoa Bar of course! On December 19, the teachers and staff members awaited a special treat in the Front Office as they signed in for the day. As teachers picked up their morning mail and did their office business, they treated themselves to Starbucks coffee and hot cocoa along with various toppings. Christmas themed decorations filled the office with cheer! The teachers and staff also entered in a raffle to win Jamba Juice gift cards, super cool elf hats, and all kinds of Xmas swag! Holiday treats such as cookies and assorted pastries were also available. You could see the joy on the faces of our teachers and staff members making for such a heart-warming, memorable Xmas activity! Taylor, 8th Grade President

Teacher & Staff Appreciation Breakfast 2017
On the morning of May 12, 2017, the Highlands Cafeteria was filled with music, floaties of all sizes and colors, and lots and lots of leis! Teachers were greeted with hugs and high fives and Teacher Appreciation Booklets that the students made for them! Once inside, all of our awesome Highlands teachers and staff were treated to IHOP pancakes, Starbucks coffee, Big City Diner fried rice, and fruit and donuts from the Tugaoen Ohana! Sounds yummy, yeah?!? All of the the teachers, got the chance to win sunglasses, real leis, and floaties during the teacher raffle! There were lots of laughs and smiles all that morning and they would carry on throughout the day. I think that that breakfast was well-deserved and I know for sure that all the teachers and staff feel a lot more appreciated now :))) Big thanks to our community event sponsors: Big City Diner Pearlridge, Starbucks Pearlridge, and IHOP Pearl City!!!! Teacher Appreciation Week 2015 Breakfast "Luau Edition"
Have you ever had that one teacher that has done so much for you and you really wanted to return the favor? Don’t worry -- Student Council has your back! On May 8th, 2015, we hosted a luau-themed teacher break for all our hard working teachers and staff here at Highlands Intermediate. Even with an earlier start time this year, we had teachers lining up outside around the corner ready to get their eat on! As soon as the clock struck 7:15 am the breakfast began. The teachers were greeted with leis, Teacher & Staff Appreciation Booklets written by their very own students, they entered a raffle to win luau-themed prizes, a rose for Mother’s Day and mile-wide smiles from all of us. After that, the teachers hopped in line to beat Mrs. Morihara to the infamous Big City Diner fried rice (since she ate the last bit of it at the Xmas Breakfast). Besides the fried rice, we had all sorts of food. We had iHop pancakes, Pancakes and Waffle House scrambled eggs, sausages, lomi lomi salmon, kalua pig, assorted fruit, Starbucks coffee, juice, and much much more. Once the teachers found a seat they were inundated with student minglers who got to hang out and talk story. And get this, we had two live student performances for our special guests! Kuahiwi, Shayla and Shaylnn were kind enough to share 5 amazing hulas! The annual breakfast was a smash success thanks to the Highlands Student Council and our amazing sponsors: Starbucks Waikele, Ihop Pearl City, and Pancakes and Waffles. If you’re reading this as a teacher who didn’t go to the breakfast heres a tip: don’t miss the next one ;) Jalisa, SG Vice-President
